Responsibilities

Hours of Work

Four (4) days on, four (4) days off rotational schedule. Shifts may include day, evening, overnight, and statutory holiday coverage based on operational requirements. Starting rate: $32.17/hour. Rate increase to $34.67/hour after three months.

DISPATCHER

• Coordinate the daily dispatch of city and highway drivers to ensure efficient and timely deliveries.
• Schedule drivers and equipment to meet operational requirements.
• Support compliance with company Health & Safety policies and procedures.
• Assist the Operations Manager with driver scheduling, vacation planning, and workforce coordination.
• Communicate with customers and drivers to support efficient operations and service excellence.
• Provide guidance and support to drivers regarding routes, schedules, and operational requirements.
• Conduct routine equipment and yard inspections and report deficiencies.
• Review and submit required operational paperwork and reports in a timely manner.
• Maintain accurate dispatch, driver, and equipment records.
• Provide coverage for driving assignments as operationally required.
• To provide superior performance.

Driver Activities

• Safe and efficient operation of bulk transport vehicle.
• Adhere to safety practices and procedures.
• Adhere to Dairy Industry Act and Regulations.
• Fuel vehicle, check oil, and report required repairs/maintenance.
• Maintain logbooks/records on mileage, report all accidents and turn in paperwork in a timely manner.
• Load truck with minimal to no product loss.
• Unload truck with minimal to no product loss.
• Cleaning exterior and inside the tanks of bulk milk trucks.
• Maintain excellent attendance along with clean work habits.
• Climb ladders to the top of the bulk tanks to check tank levels and for cleanliness.
• Perform other duties as required.

On-The-Job Performance. We each have multiple tasks to perform during on-duty time. It is your responsibility to ensure that the tasks assigned to your position are being completed and in a timely manner. (Examples include making sure reefer temperature settings are correct for the type of product being hauled; making sure reefer does not run out of fuel, etc.).

The incumbent must have proficient knowledge in the following areas:

• Knowledge of truck, equipment, and employee safety

• Basic knowledge of MS Office and Excel

• Supervisory experience an asset

• Experience as a Class 1 driver
• Unstable load experience
• Electronic Logging Devices

Education

The incumbent would normally attain the required knowledge and skills through completion of grade 12 educations and obtaining a class 1 driver’s license and completing an accredited driving program.

Working Conditions

Physical Demands

The Lead Handwill spend long hours sitting and using office equipment and computers, which can cause muscle strain. The Lead Handwill also have to do some lifting of supplies and materials from time to time. Associated to driving climbing, lifting, pulling, sitting for long periods of time and managing awkward objects are required. While performing driving duties the lead hand will need to be prepared to work in all weather conditions.

Environmental Conditions

The incumbent i Located in a busy, open office area. The incumbent is faced with constant interruptions and must meet with others. They must work outside in all weather conditions. The Lead Handmay encounter noise, vibration, poor weather conditions or heavy traffic that may cause physical stress for the driver.When on a customer’s property there may be icy, muddy, wet conditions in and around buildings. The Lead Hand receives a cell phone and may be required to be on call.

Sensory Demands

The incumbent may spend moderate hours in intense concentration. The incumbent may also spend moderate hours on the computer creating information which requires attention to detail and high levels of accuracy.
