This includes risk-based testing, shift-left quality, automation, continuous testing within delivery pipelines, production quality insights, and responsible use of AI-assisted testing.\nPartnering with business, product, engineering, architecture, cybersecurity, operations, project delivery, risk, compliance, and external service providers to ensure clear ownership of quality throughout the technology lifecycle.\nROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:\n1. Quality Strategy, Governance & Assurance (20%)\nDefine and execute a multi-year quality engineering and testing strategy aligned with business priorities, technology strategy, risk appetite, and customer outcomes.\nEstablish and maintain policies, standards, methods, quality gates, entry and exit criteria, role accountabilities, evidence requirements, and exception governance.\nDefine a coherent quality measurement framework covering leading and lagging indicators across delivery and production.\nProvide independent, evidence-based release quality assessments and escalate material quality risks before deployment.\nPeriodically assess maturity, identify control or capability gaps, and sponsor measurable improvement plans.\n2. Quality Engineering & Test Delivery (25%)\nOversee test strategy, estimation, planning, design, execution, evidence, reporting, and closure for technology initiatives.\nApply risk-based testing to focus effort on customer-critical journeys, material business processes, data integrity, security, resilience, and regulatory obligations.\nEnsure appropriate coverage across functional, system integration, API, data, mobile, regression, performance, resilience, accessibility, compatibility, security, and operational readiness testing.\nEnsure effective requirements traceability, environment readiness, test data management, defect triage, and acceptance evidence.\nImprove early collaboration among product, business analysis, architecture, engineering, operations, cybersecurity, and quality specialists.\n3. Automation, Continuous Testing & AI Enablement (20%)\nDefine and deliver the test automation roadmap across web, mobile, API, integration, and data platforms.\nEmbed automated quality controls and continuous testing into CI/CD pipelines, with risk-appropriate checks and transparent exception handling.\nEstablish maintainable automation architecture, coding standards, reusable assets, test data approaches, and tool lifecycle governance.\nUse AI-assisted testing responsibly to improve test design, coverage analysis, defect insights, and productivity, subject to security, privacy, validation, and human oversight requirements.\nMeasure automation effectiveness based on risk coverage, maintainability, execution reliability, cycle-time improvement, and production outcomes rather than script volume alone.\n4. Defect Prevention, Production Quality & Continuous Improvement (15%)\nEstablish consistent defect classification, prioritization, ageing, closure, and trend-analysis practices.\nLead quality-focused root cause analysis for major production defects and recurring failure patterns, with accountable preventive actions.\nConnect delivery quality metrics with production incidents, service stability, customer impact, and operational outcomes.\nLead post-implementation quality reviews and convert lessons learned into standards, reusable controls, and capability improvements.\nChampion prevention and shared quality ownership rather than reliance on final-stage defect detection.\n5. Stakeholder, Vendor & Financial Management (10%)\nProvide concise, transparent reporting on quality status, significant risks, release readiness, decisions required, and remediation progress.\nPartner with business and technology leaders to agree risk-based quality outcomes, acceptance responsibilities, and escalation paths.\nDefine measurable quality obligations for technology vendors and hold providers accountable for delivery quality, evidence, remediation, and continuous improvement.\nManage the function within approved budgets and optimise the balance between internal capability, strategic partners, automation, and specialist services.\nRepresent Quality Engineering and Testing in relevant technology, delivery, risk, and release governance forums.\n6. People Leadership & Capability Building (10%)\nLead, coach, and develop a high-performing team with clear objectives, role expectations, feedback, development plans, and succession coverage.\nBuild capability in automation, API and data testing, performance and resilience, security testing, cloud quality, test architecture, analytics, and AI-assisted testing.\nPromote accountability, constructive challenge, continuous learning, inclusion, and collaboration across organizational boundaries.\nDevelop a flexible workforce model that can respond to portfolio demand while retaining critical institutional knowledge and control ownership.\nREQUIREMENTS:\nBachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related discipline.\nPostgraduate qualification is advantageous but not mandatory.\nAt least 10 years of relevant technology experience, including at least 5 years in a managerial or senior quality leadership role.\nDemonstrated leadership of enterprise-scale quality assurance, quality engineering, or testing across complex technology portfolios.\nExperience operating across Agile, iterative, Waterfall, DevOps, and vendor-delivered environments.\nExperience designing or scaling automation, continuous testing, defect governance, release assurance, and quality measurement.\nExperience working with digital channels, APIs, integrations, data platforms, cloud services, and core enterprise applications.\nExperience managing internal teams and external service providers in a regulated or control-focused environment is preferred.\nSoftware development lifecycle, product delivery, Agile practices, DevOps / DevSecOps, and release management.\nTest strategy, risk-based testing, test design, test management, requirements traceability, and defect lifecycle management.\nTest automation architecture and frameworks for web, mobile, API, integration, and data testing.\nCI/CD quality controls, source control, environment management, test data management, and observability principles.\nPerformance, resilience, security, compatibility, accessibility, and operational readiness testing concepts.\nQuality metrics, analytics, root cause analysis, process improvement, control design, and audit evidence.\nBuild a career with us as we help our customers and the community live Healthier, Longer, Better Lives.\nYou must provide all requested information, including Personal Data, to be considered for this career opportunity.
