Based in AIB’s ESR Fusion Centre in Central Park, Dublin, you will lead and strengthen our cyber defence capability, helping to protect the bank’s critical services, systems and data.\nYou will oversee key cyber defence activities including security monitoring, incident response, threat intelligence, vulnerability and exposure management and control assurance, working across security, technology and business teams to identify and reduce cyber risk and continually improve AIB’s security posture.\nThis is an opportunity to play a key role in protecting AIB’s customers, colleagues and critical services in an evolving cyber threat landscape. You’ll work across Enterprise Delivery and the wider organisation, using your cyber expertise to influence priorities, strengthen our defences and shape the future of our cyber defence capability.\nKey Accountabilities:\nLead and continuously improve AIB’s cyber defence capability, including security monitoring, incident detection and triage, threat intelligence, vulnerability and exposure management, attack surface reduction, investigations and control assurance.\nLead cyber defence teams, providing clear direction, coaching and prioritisation while promoting accountability, collaboration and effective operational coverage.\nOversee the management of cyber threats and incidents, ensuring material threats, vulnerabilities, exposures and control weaknesses are identified, assessed, escalated, contained and remediated effectively.\nUse security intelligence, tooling, telemetry and exposure data to inform decisions, prioritise risk and ensure appropriate treatment and remediation actions are taken.\nStrengthen governance and control assurance, maintaining effective procedures, playbooks, standards and risk-acceptance processes, supported by clear metrics, dashboards and senior management reporting.\nWork across AIB to strengthen cyber resilience, coordinating activity with technology, business teams, Group functions, subsidiaries, suppliers and specialist security teams, while supporting major incidents, crisis management, exercises, regulatory engagement and audit activity.\nDrive continuous improvement of AIB’s cyber defence capability, including improvement plans and the evaluation of emerging technologies such as AI-enabled security capabilities, with appropriate consideration of security, governance, privacy and operational risk\nWhat you Will Bring:\nA degree in Computer Science, Cyber Security, Information Technology or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.\nDemonstrated experience leading cyber security operations, cyber defence services or security functions within a large and complex organisation.\nStrong experience across cyber incident management, threat intelligence, vulnerability and exposure management, attack surface management and security investigations.\nStrong technical knowledge of security monitoring and incident response, cyber threat intelligence and threat hunting, together with experience using SIEM, SOAR, EDR, security analytics and investigation tooling.\nKnowledge across network, endpoint, cloud and application security, including identity, authentication and access management, data protection and encryption technologies.\nKnowledge of Windows, Linux, Active Directory and cloud services, together with security governance, risk and regulatory frameworks.\nExperience influencing senior stakeholders and operating within a highly regulated and complex technology environment.\nAn understanding of AI-enabled security capabilities and the associated security, privacy and governance controls.\nRelevant cyber security, incident response, risk or technical certifications such as CISSP, CISM, CISA, GCIH or GCIA, or equivalent, are highly desirable.\nWhy Work for AIB:\nWe are committed to offering our colleagues choice and flexibility in how we work and live and our hybrid working model enables our people to balance their time between working from home and their designated office, subject to their role, the needs of our customers and business requirements.\nSome of our benefits include; \nMarket leading Pension Scheme\nHealthcare Scheme\nVariable Pay\nEmployee Assistance Programme\nFamily leave options\nTwo volunteer days per year\nPlease click here for further information about AIB’s PACT - Our Commitment to You.\nKey Capabilities\nEnsures Accountability\nCollaborates\nDrives Progress\nDepth of Technical Knowledge\nTechnical Leadership\nIf you are not sure about your suitability based on any aspects of the role advertised, we encourage you to please contact the Recruiter for this role Sarah Lyons at  for a conversation.\nAIB is an equal opportunities employer, and we pride ourselves on being the first bank in Ireland to receive the Investors in Diversity Gold Standard accreditation from the Irish Centre for Diversity.
