We're hiring two Backend Software Engineering Intern s in Palo Alto to help build the backend systems behind that growth.\nThis is a real engineering internship, not a sandbox project. You'll own scoped backend work that ships to production, with day-to-day mentorship from a senior engineer who will review your code, pair with you on design, and help you grow fast. Strong performers will be considered for a full-time return offer.\nOur pending acquisition by Schneider Electric will accelerate our mission as we bring our combined offering to our joint customer base, and the work you do will reach customers at an even greater scale.\nLocation: This is a hybrid internship based in Palo Alto, CA, requiring [X] days per week in the office.\nHow you'llmake an impact: \nBuild Design, build, and test backend services and APIs in Java or Python \nOwn a scoped project end to end, from design doc to production \nWork with data pipelines that process satellite, sensor, and operational data at scale \n\nEngineer well Write clean, tested, well-documented code and take part in code reviews \nUse AI coding tools thoughtfully to move faster without cutting corners on quality \nDebug issues across services and learn how production systems behave under real load\n\n Learn and contribute Be curious, seek feedback early, and act on it \nPartner with engineers across teams to understand how your work fits the bigger platform \nPresent your work to the engineering team at the end of the internship \n\nWhat success looks like by the end of your internship: \nYour project is shipped to production, or production-ready and documented \nYour code has passed review and is running in real customer workflows \nYou can clearly explain the design choices and trade-offs behind your work \nYour mentor and team see you as someone they want back full-time \nWhat we'relooking for: \nMinimum Qualifications \nCurrently pursuing or recently completed a BS or MS in Computer Science or a closely related field \nAt least one serious project or prior internship you can go deep on: the problem, your design choices, the trade-offs, and what you'd change \nSolid programming skills in Java or Python, and curiosity about other languages \nStrong Computer Science fundamentals, including data structures, algorithms, and object-oriented design \nYou learn quickly, ask good questions, and use AI tools well \nPreferred Qualifications \nExposure to REST APIs, SQL or NoSQL databases, or cloud platforms (AWS preferred) \nExperience with Git, unit testing, and CI workflows \nInterest in geospatial data, climate, energy, or infrastructure \nOpen-source contributions, hackathon projects, or a public GitHub you're proud of \nWe are proud to be an equal-opportunityemployer.
