AIG

American International Group is an insurer founded in Shanghai in 1919 that grew into one of the largest financial institutions in the world before its near-collapse in 2008, when losses on credit default swaps written against mortgage securities forced the largest government rescue of a single company in American history. It has spent the years since dismantling that conglomerate, separating its life and retirement business as Corebridge and selling numerous units, and it now concentrates on commercial property and casualty insurance. Headquartered in New York, it is a considerably smaller and simpler company than the one that failed.

AIG Canada has launched careers and developed future leaders for 60 years.

AIG is reimagining the way we help customers manage risk. Join us as a Summer Intern in the Distribution department to play your part in that transformation with opportunities to learn and grow your skills and experience as a valued member of the team.

About Us

At AIG, helping organizations and people discover new potential is our purpose. As a global risk leader, we do this for our clients every day. Through our deep expertise in their industries and our innovative solutions that help them smartly manage risk, we enable their growth in ways they never thought possible.

But we also do the same thing for our colleagues, because we know our people are our greatest strength - the source of every insight, every idea and every innovation. When we're working as one team to do what's right for our colleagues and our communities, we can achieve excellence together. We encourage colleagues to give back to the causes they care most about, supporting these efforts through our Volunteer Time Off and Matching Grants Programs.

Make your mark in Distribution

AIG’s North America Distribution team helps connect brokers and clients with AIG’s broad portfolio of insurance solutions through strategic relationship management and market engagement. Working across Retail, Wholesale, Alternative Channels and Client Engagement, the team partners with brokers, clients, underwriters, and claims professionals to deliver value and support business growth.

As a Distribution professional, you'll develop expertise in broker engagement and client relationship management while working closely with brokers, clients, underwriters, and business partners to deliver tailored insurance solutions. This role offers the opportunity to build strong industry relationships, drive growth, and develop a broad foundation in commercial insurance.

How you will make an impact

AIG’s Summer Interns are immersed in the day-to-day operations of a fast-moving, global insurance company. During the 9-week program, you will gain valuable, hands-on experience and insurance industry knowledge, working with leaders on dynamic projects, with plenty of opportunity for challenges, learning and achievement.

Summer Interns join one of our key business teams, which offers a unique opportunity to obtain core technical knowledge and professional skills in a diverse environment. In addition to meaningful on-the-job experiences, interns will join instructor-led masterclasses, hear directly from senior leaders, and build meaningful connections through mentoring circles, networking events and volunteering.

Following completion of the internship program, interns may be considered for a role in the location where they completed their internship, with the Analyst program beginning in July 2028.

Responsibilities

  • Support broker and client relationship management efforts across AIG’s North America Distribution organization.
  • Partner with brokers, clients, underwriters, and internal teams to understand client needs and connect them with appropriate AIG solutions.
  • Assist with broker and client meetings, presentations, and engagement initiatives that strengthen relationships and support business growth.
  • Analyze market and business information to identify trends and opportunities that support distribution strategies.
  • Collaborate across Retail, Wholesale, Alternative Channels, and Client Engagement to support coordinated market initiatives.
  • Develop knowledge of AIG’s commercial insurance products, distribution channels, and market dynamics while building communication, analytical, and relationship-management skills
