AIG

American International Group is an insurer founded in Shanghai in 1919 that grew into one of the largest financial institutions in the world before its near-collapse in 2008, when losses on credit default swaps written against mortgage securities forced the largest government rescue of a single company in American history. It has spent the years since dismantling that conglomerate, separating its life and retirement business as Corebridge and selling numerous units, and it now concentrates on commercial property and casualty insurance. Headquartered in New York, it is a considerably smaller and simpler company than the one that failed.

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers and internal stakeholders.
  • Monitor supplier performance and key performance indicators (KPIs) to ensure accountability and continuous improvement.
  • Identify and mitigate supply, commercial, operational, and financial risks within assigned categories.

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of strategic sourcing, category management, or procurement experience, including ownership of indirect spend categories within a complex corporate environment.
  • Demonstrated experience sourcing and managing Professional Services categories, including consulting, contingent workforce, managed services, and other indirect services.
  • Proven track record developing and executing category strategies that deliver cost savings, supplier innovation, risk mitigation, and business value.
  • Experience leading competitive sourcing events (RFPs, RFQs, and RFIs) and managing supplier evaluation and selection processes.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with experience leveraging spend analysis, market intelligence, and data-driven decision-making.
  • Excellent negotiation, contract management, and supplier relationship management skills.
  • In-depth knowledge of market dynamics, industry trends, and strategic sourcing best practices across indirect procurement categories.
  • Ability to influence and collaborate effectively with stakeholders.
  • Strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency with sourcing, procurement, contract lifecycle management, and spend analysis tools.
