This position has direct accountability for the business results of Commercial Property Sub Saharan Africa with respect to profitability, penetration and/or volume within a specific account, segment, geographic area, product or line of business.. The role provides overall leadership internally and externally for all Commercial Property\nEnsure that production growth targets are achieved and provide leadership to take remedial action to address shortfalls\nTake accountability for Profit Centre P&L\nBusiness Operations\nEstablish / execute strategic business plans to achieve profitable growth in line with Profit Centre & country targets\nPrepare, manage and execute production and expense budgets in line with Profit Centre & country targets.\nManage estimate and reporting processes and prepare ad hoc financial and management reports\nManage and coordinate SLA’s with Operations to ensure operational efficiency and achievement of agreed customer service standards\nPortfolio Management\nEnsure adherence with all underwriting guidelines and bulletins\nManage the portfolio in profitable and sustainable growth, closely following claims activity trends\nEnsure adherence with all reporting requirements\nTechnical Underwriting\nReview, analyse and underwrite risks within underwriting authority\nProvide technical directions to underwriters in the Profit Centre\nNegotiate terms and conditions with clients and brokers\nHandle referrals as appropriate\nPlay an active role in the development, supervision, negotiation and sign off of large programs by motivating limits and policy structures where referral is required\nBusiness Development and Retention\nKeep abreast of market changes and trends. Provide strategic direction for new business / new product development\nSeek opportunities to improve synergies and lead cross-sell initiatives with other profit centers\nProvide leadership for pipeline development and management\nDevelop and maintain strong personal and professional relationships with brokers & clients\nRepresent AIG on industry bodies and professional associations and organizations\nPerformance Management\nSet objectives for direct reports, provide input for objectives of matrix reports and ensure that staff objectives / KPI’s are aligned to achievement of business goals\nEnsure that appropriate training and development is provided to meet regulatory requirements, build technical skill for delegation of underwriting authority and encouragement of personal growth\nTalent Management\nWork with HR to ensure that staff development plans are in place with feedback and follow-up\nManage succession planning to develop & retain talent and build bench strength\nEnsure that the probability of the portfolio and production growth targets are achieved and provide leadership to take remedial action to address shortfalls\nPortfolio Management - implementation and adherence to the Property AQI Strategy ensuring targets are met.\nExpense control\nManage all expenses within budget.
