Within the Professional Indemnity portfolio, you will play a senior role in shaping and executing the underwriting strategy for complex risks and accounts.\nAs a senior member of the underwriting team, you will take ownership of a significant portfolio of Professional Indemnity business, combining deep technical underwriting expertise with strong commercial judgement and market insight. You will be expected to manage complex and strategically important risks, develop and maintain senior broker and client relationships, and contribute to the continued growth and profitability of the portfolio.\nBeyond individual underwriting performance, you will act as a technical and market reference point for colleagues and contribute actively to underwriting excellence, portfolio steering, product development and the development of our market proposition.\nKey Responsibilities\nUnderwriting & Portfolio Leadership\nTake senior ownership of a significant Professional Indemnity portfolio, with accountability for achieving sustainable growth, profitability, retention and overall portfolio quality.\nUnderwrite complex and high-profile Professional Indemnity risks and portfolios, applying expert technical judgement, commercial acumen and a strong understanding of industry-specific exposures.\nExercise appropriate underwriting authority and provide senior technical input on complex, large or strategically important opportunities.\nDevelop and execute underwriting strategies in line with AIG’s overall Financial Lines strategy, risk appetite and profitability objectives.\nProactively manage portfolio performance, identifying trends, emerging risks, concentration issues and opportunities to improve portfolio quality and profitability.\nBalance growth, retention and technical underwriting discipline, making informed decisions where risk, reward and market conditions require careful judgement.\nActively contribute to portfolio planning, forecasting and achievement of financial targets.\nMarket & Business Development\nMaintain and further develop a strong network of senior broker and client relationships, acting as a trusted and credible underwriting partner in the Professional Indemnity market.\nIdentify and pursue strategically attractive new business opportunities while maintaining disciplined underwriting standards.\nStrengthen AIG’s market position through differentiated underwriting propositions, technical expertise and high-quality client and broker engagement.\nRepresent AIG in senior broker and client meetings, market events and industry forums.\nDevelop and deliver presentations, training and technical sessions for brokers, clients and internal stakeholders.\nAnticipate market developments and changing client needs and translate these into commercially relevant underwriting opportunities.\nTechnical & Thought Leadership\nServe as a senior technical reference point for Professional Indemnity underwriting within the team and wider organisation.\nProvide guidance and coaching to less experienced underwriters, supporting the development of underwriting capability and technical excellence across the team.\nShare market intelligence, claims trends, emerging exposures and underwriting insights to strengthen collective decision-making.\nContribute to the development and refinement of underwriting guidelines, appetite and risk selection standards.\nSupport the continuous improvement of underwriting practices, processes and tools.\nProduct & Proposition Development\nTake a leading role in the development and enhancement of Professional Indemnity products, wordings and underwriting propositions.\nIdentify opportunities for innovation based on market developments, client needs, emerging risks and competitive dynamics.\nContribute to the drafting and review of policy wordings and endorsements, ensuring that propositions remain commercially relevant and technically robust.\nWork closely with relevant internal stakeholders, including Claims, Legal, Actuarial, Distribution and Operations, to develop effective and sustainable solutions.\nGovernance, Risk & Controls\nEnsure all underwriting decisions are consistent with AIG’s underwriting strategy, risk appetite, authority framework and governance requirements.\nMaintain a strong focus on technical underwriting quality, compliance and disciplined risk selection.\nProvide appropriate challenge and escalation on risks that fall outside established parameters.\nAct as a role model for sound underwriting judgement, governance and professional standards.\nSupport portfolio reviews, audits and other governance activities as required.\nOperational Excellence\nEnsure efficient and high-quality execution of the underwriting lifecycle, including quotation, negotiation, policy issuance, renewals and account management.\nWork effectively with Servicing and other operational teams to ensure accurate and timely execution and a strong “first time right” culture.\nIdentify opportunities to improve processes, productivity and service quality without compromising underwriting discipline.\nProfile\nWe are looking for an established Professional Indemnity insurance professional who combines deep technical expertise with commercial judgement, market credibility and a strong track record of delivering sustainable underwriting results.\nYou will ideally bring:\nSignificant Professional Indemnity underwriting experience, including extensive experience with complex and/or large commercial risks.\nA strong track record of underwriting performance, portfolio management and profitable business development.\nDeep knowledge of the Professional Indemnity market, relevant industries, exposures, policy structures and emerging risks.\nDemonstrable underwriting judgement and the ability to make sound decisions on complex risks within an appropriate risk and governance framework.\nEstablished relationships with senior brokers, clients and other key market stakeholders.\nStrong commercial awareness and the ability to balance client needs, market dynamics, risk appetite and profitability.\nExperience contributing to product development, underwriting strategy or portfolio initiatives.\nThe credibility and communication skills to represent AIG with senior external and internal stakeholders.\nThe ability and willingness to coach, challenge and develop less experienced colleagues and contribute to the broader underwriting community.\nMaster’s degree in (Applied) Economics, Finance, Law or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience.\nFluent Dutch and English, both written and spoken.\nExcellent analytical, negotiation, communication and presentation skills.\nA
