AIG’s underwriters help to find insurance solutions for risks from a range of areas including Financial Lines, Property, Casualty, Specialty Lines, Cyber, Multinational Clients and High Net Worth individuals.\nAbout the role\nThe Marine Underwriter will contribute to profitable growth and overall business results of the AIG Belgium Marine portfolio, within the France/Belgium/Luxembourg cluster. The role will be based in Brussels.\nMain Responsibilities:\nUnderwrite new and renewal accounts (in lead and follow capacity) within authority,\nDetermine the desirability of accepting or rejecting business in line with strategy, appetite and guidelines,\nCarry out technical risk analysis,\nPrice exposures in accordance with pricing tools and guidelines,\nFormulate appropriate contractual conditions and perform critical wording reviews,\nAssess international risks and design/deploy multinational programmes as applicable,\nEvaluate capacity aggregations including NatCat accumulations, taking into consideration catastrophe modelling data and analysis,\nProactively monitor business profitability and anticipate/execute effective policy renewal negotiations,\nCollaborate with other departments (Claims, Distribution, Risk control, Operations, etc.) to ensure the highest level of customer satisfaction while meeting business goals as well as governance and underwriting control objectives,\nCultivate strong relationships with brokers, clients and other key external stakeholders,\nIdentify opportunities for business development/marketing initiatives and contribute to the promotion of AIG.\nKey Capabilities:\nTechnical experience and data-driven analytical ability,\nBroker/client relationship management,\nStrong written and verbal communication skills,\nProblem-solving, negotiation and decision-making aptitude,\nRobust understanding of policy administration lifecycle and data/records management,\nRegulatory and compliance awareness,\nCollaborative team player mentality,\nProven ability to perform/thrive in a face-paced international environment.\nQualifications / Experience:\nUniversity degree and ideally professional certification,\nExtensive experience in Marine insurance underwriting, broking or claims handling, with demonstrated competence ideally across cargo, logistics and commodities business,\nProficient English, Dutch & French language skills.
