You will join the project first, shape the technical foundation during discovery, and then lead a team of three Full-Stack Java Developers through the MVP delivery. \n\nThe role is approximately 50% architecture and technical leadership / 50% hands-on production coding. \n\n🎯 About the project & role: \n\nThe client is a UK wholesale internet service provider supplying broadband, Ethernet, and connectivity services to resellers and partners. \n\nThe project is Phase 1 of a new customer and admin portal and integration platform (BSS/OSS) designed to replace manual and legacy processes and become the first production slice of the client's target platform. \n\nThe technical environment includes: \n\nJava & Spring Boot \n\nReact & TypeScript \n\nMicroservices and event-driven architecture \n\nPostgreSQL \n\nBPMN / workflow orchestration \n\nOAuth2 / OIDC and Auth0 \n\nAWS \n\nDocker and Kubernetes \n\nCI/CD \n\nTM Forum Open APIs \n\n🎯 Your key responsibilities will include: \n\nOwning the solution architecture for the client portal and integration platform \n\nLeading the initial technical discovery and helping define the MVP implementation approach \n\nDesigning domain models, APIs, integration flows, and event-driven components \n\nWriting production Java / Spring Boot code, particularly for technically complex parts of the platform \n\nLeading and mentoring a team of three Full-Stack Java Developers \n\nReviewing code and establishing engineering standards and quality gates \n\nGuiding the React portal architecture and UI standards \n\nDesigning integrations with external and legacy systems \n\nMaking and documenting architecture decisions using ADRs and C4 diagrams \n\nWorking closely with DevOps and QA on AWS environments, CI/CD, contract testing, and integrations \n\nCommunicating directly with the UK client and third-party technical teams \n\nPresenting technical progress through regular live demos \n\n🔥 What We Need From You: \n\nHands-on experience in the Telecommunications domain, ideally with ISP, BSS/OSS, broadband, order management, product catalogues, or service qualification \n\nExperience with TM Forum Open APIs \n\n8+ years of commercial Java development experience \n\n2+ years as a Tech Lead, Solution Architect, or in a similar technical leadership role \n\nStrong hands-on experience with Spring Boot \n\n3–4+ years of hands-on experience with React / ReactJS and TypeScript \n\nEnglish: Upper-Intermediate (B2+) / Advanced (C1) for direct communication with a UK client \n\nExperience designing and delivering microservice and integration-heavy systems \n\nStrong understanding of Domain-Driven Design (DDD) and event-driven architecture \n\nAbility to review frontend code, guide React application architecture and contribute to frontend development when needed \n\nPractical experience with reliability and integration patterns such as Transactional Outbox, idempotency, retries, and asynchronous processing \n\nExperience designing REST APIs and OpenAPI-based contracts \n\nExperience integrating with multiple external systems and third-party APIs \n\nPractical experience with Camunda, Flowable, or a similar workflow / orchestration engine \n\nPractical experience with OAuth2 / OIDC, Spring Security, and RBAC \n\nHands-on experience with AWS and containerized environments (EKS or ECS, Docker) \n\nUnderstanding of CI/CD and modern software delivery practices \n\nExperience with AI-assisted development tools such as Claude Code or Cursor \n\nExperience leading developers through technical planning, code reviews, mentoring, and delivery \n\n📌 Nice to have: \n\nExperience with PostgreSQL, Flyway, or Liquibase \n\nExperience with Kafka or AWS SQS \n\nExperience with Terraform or AWS CDK \n\nUnderstanding of multi-tenant architectures \n\nExperience with Auth0 \n\nExperience with telecom/network systems such as RADIUS, NetBox, or IPAM \n\nExperience with UK broadband ecosystems such as Openreach, PXC, or CityFibre \n\nExperience leading technical discovery phases or architecture spikes \n\n💼 What We Offer: \n\nOfficial military deferment (reservation);
