The organisation has grown significantly over the last few years and regroups 10 sites located in 9 countries with more than 200 employees.\nAir Liquide Maritime Sdn Bhd specializes in cryogenic tank and equipment rental for the offshore and maritime industries as well as in cryogenic transport of molecules, and provides a full range of repair and testing services.\nAir Liquide is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Turbo Expander Skid Design Engineer to join our Global Engineering & Construction division. In this role, you will be the technical lead responsible for the design, integration, and packaging of turbo expander rotating machinery and their associated auxiliary skids (lube oil systems, seal gas panels, and process piping).The candidate should have good understanding of mechanical design, system integration, layouting & packaging with strong proficiency in Solidworks, Autocad, familiar with industry standards such as ASME, API and ANSI. The candidate is also responsible for developing project deliverables, design reviews and collaborating with other cross function teams to meet the project requirements including the deadlines\nYour expertise will directly support Air Liquide’s world-class Cryogenic Air Separation Units (ASUs), Hydrogen Liquefaction plants, and Carbon Capture & Clean Energy initiatives. You will bridge the gap between complex aerodynamic turbomachinery and robust, shippable, modular skid packages.\nHow will you CONTRIBUTE and GROW?\nMechanical Packaging & Detailed Design\nDevelop complete skid layouts for turbo expanders, including structural, interconnecting process/utility piping, lube oil consoles, and seal gas conditioning systems.\nPerform structural analysis including lifting lugs calculations, and structure to withstand transit, seismic, and operational dynamic loads.\n\nGenerate detailed system assembly drawings, process flow diagrams, fabrication drawings, Bill of Materials (BOMs), and technical specifications for the modular skid assembly.\n\nCreate and review the submission of design documentation.\n\nIntegrate instrumentation, valves and electrical junction boxes onto the skid package in compliance with hazardous area classifications.\n\nLead the development of standardized mechanical layouts and modular designs for turboexpander skid systems (including lubrication consoles and dry gas seal systems) to improve engineering efficiency, reduce lead times, and lower manufacturing cost.\n\nTechnical Specifications & Vendor Management\nDraft comprehensive technical specification sheets for turbo expanders and auxiliary equipment based on customer’s process requirements and Aero design.\n\nPerform and validate critical mechanical, fluid, and thermal calculations for turboexpander auxiliary systems, including piping hydraulics, pressure drop analysis, heat exchanger sizing, safety relief valve (PSV) sizing, and structural lifting/loading criteria in compliance with applicable standards\n\nEvaluate vendor proposals, perform technical bid tabulations, and serve as the primary technical point of contact with AL Turbo team/division.\n\nReview performance curves, rotordynamic limits, and system P&IDs provided by AL Turbo and auxiliary equipment suppliers to verify design integrity and enforce alignment with company and client requirements\n\nParticipate in Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) and mechanical running tests at vendor facilities, as needed.\n\nCross-Functional Coordination & Safety\nCollaborate closely with various engineering disciplines (process, instrumentation, electrical) and project management to ensure seamless boundaries, interfaces and adherence to project goals and objectives.\n\nLead and participate in HAZOP, and 3D Model Reviews to guarantee the inherent safety, operability, and maintainability of the skid package.\n\nEnsure all designs rigorously adhere to Air Liquide's industrial safety guidelines and environmental regulations.\n\nContinuous Improvement & Knowledge Sharing:\nLeverage experience from previous projects and commissioning issues to implement improvements in system design and development.\n\nActively contribute to local and global Engineering & Construction (E&C) development efforts by sharing best practices, lessons learned, and innovative design solutions.\n\nStay up to date on advancements in industry standards, mechanical design, and system engineering to continuously improve system designs.\n\nAre you a MATCH?\nEducation & Experience\nBachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering.\n\nMinimum of 10+ years of dedicated experience in the design, packaging, and integration of high-speed rotating equipment (turbo expanders, centrifugal compressors, or steam turbines) within the oil & gas, petrochemical, or industrial gas sectors.\n\nProven track record of delivering modularized skid packages from conceptual design through to fabrication.\n\nTechnical Competencies\nKnowledge of Codes & Standards: Understanding of API 617 (Axial and Centrifugal Compressors and Expander-compressors), API 614 (Lubrication, Shaft-sealing, and Oil-control Systems), ASME B31.3 (Process Piping), and ASME Section VIII (Pressure Vessels).\n\nSoftware Proficiency:Strong hands-on experience with 3D CAD modeling tools (e.g., Aveva E3D/PDMS, SolidWorks) and structural analysis software (e.g., Solidworks, ANSYS).\n\nCryogenic Insight: thorough understanding of material selection and thermal insulation requirements for cryogenic applications (temperatures below -150°C).\n\nPreferred\nStrong experience in turbo expander design and process engineering.\n\nUnderstanding of structural design.\n\nSoftware: Google Suite\n\nIndustry experience with risk mitigation/quality compliance/process governance).\n\nUnderstanding of relevant codes and standards for various geographies\n\nChinese language proficiency is preferred\n\nAbout Air Liquide\nA world leader in gases, technologies and services for Industry and Health, Air Liquide is present in 78 countries with approximately 64,500 employees and serves more than 3.8 million customers and patients.
