The role requires consideration for efficient and timely delivery, that can be manufactured and achieves internal and external technical and commercial expectations.\nScope & Relationships:\nReports to Engineering Manager\n\nDevelopment of engineering solutions.\n\nInteraction with project stakeholders: Clients, internal relationships, suppliers, certification.\n\nYou are responsible for:\nObtain a clear understanding and assimilation of project requirements.\n\nDevelop engineering solutions within the framework of company systems and procedures and utilising such engineering tools as are appropriate and available (CAD, CAM, NESTING, FEA, Hand Calculations) with due consideration of budgets. These solutions will be aligned with company commercial strategy and constraints. Specific tasks will include:\nCreation of solid models and corresponding technical documentations using CAD\n\nCreation of programmes for NC equipment (ply cutter and router)\n\nDevelops MPSs and other production documentation as required.\n\nLead feasibility studies.\n\nLead project related activities such as:\nDesign for manufacturing\n\nDetail design, stress analysis and design for manufacture of products.\n\nDesign of Tooling.\n\nDesign and execution of test plans.\n\nDevelopment of quality plans and inspection and test plans.\n\nPlanning and supervising process qualification.\n\nGeneration of production documentation and reports.\n\nTroubleshooting production problems.\n\nAd hoc tasks as necessary for the project delivery\n\nProcess development such as manufacturing trials.\n\nKnowledge and application of composite manufacturing processes.\n\nCharacterisation of materials and material testing plans.\n\nUnderstanding application of automation & digitalisation within composites domain.\n\nEvaluation of product compatibility with existing automation equipment for medium and high volume.\n\nDevelopment of commercial offers considering likely materials, manufacturing process, production hours and profit margins.\n\nProject management of projects related to medium to high volume production using such tools as project plans; decision and action trackers; DFMEA. PFMEA; production schedule analysis and planning.\n\nAnalysis of quality issues using six sigma tools such as fishbone; 8D; DMAIC.\n\nParticipating in identifying and developing technology for targeted opportunities.\n\nProject liaison management including QCP documents and reporting of progress.\n\nSupplier management.\n\nIdentification of Intellectual Property to allow it to be secured.\n\nEnsure the security of work through company IT systems.\n\nTo complete timesheets as necessary to allow project tracking.\n\nPersonal attention to health, safety and environmental related aspects.\n\nReporting Lines and Interactions\nYou will report to the engineering manager in Airborne UK. You will collaborate with your colleagues in the business unit (Project Management, Engineering Design and Process Development, Automation), Airborne UK’s partners, colleagues in Airborne NL, suppliers, and customers.\nRequirements\nCharacteristics:\nEssential:\nProven ability to synthesise technical solutions and strategies and develop substantiated conclusions\n\nCompetently address engineering problems involving uncertainty, ambiguity, wide-ranging and sometimes conflicting technical and non-technical factors\n\nDemonstrable ability to conceptualise alternative engineering approaches and evaluates potential outcomes against appropriate criteria to justify an optimal or novel engineering solution\n\nSharing expertise and insight with other engineers\n\nAble to manage multiple projects at the same time under critical timelines.\n\nDesirable:\nUnderstands the importance of being a member of a professional technical community, learning from its knowledge and standards and being able to actively contribute to its advancement\n\nAble to express complex/specialist technical information effectively and succinctly, issuing instructions, engaging in discussion, formulating arguments and justification, debating and negotiating - to technical and non-technical audiences and using appropriate media best suited to the audience and context\n\nAble to prepare exemplary engineering documents and presentations pertinent to the audience\n\nQualifications:\nEssential:\nMasters in Mechanical/ Materials Engineering or other relevant degrees/qualification\n\nSubstantial engineering experience with composite materials\n\nDesirable:\nPhD in the specialist area\n\nChartered Engineer with a professional institute (IMechE, IOM3)\n\nWhat we offer\nWorking at Airborne International will give you the opportunity to develop your career by working on highly innovative projects.\nWe offer you a well rewarding job in an inspiring environment with like-minded and talented colleagues.
