Leads a group engaged in new product development and sustaining projects. Will assist with new proposals, cost savings and improved manufacturing techniques and designs. The position requires strong leadership of the staff, excellent presentation skills and adaptability to an ever-changing work list and priorities. This is a hands-on position. Strong interpersonal skills are a must.\n\nKey Deliverables and Responsibilities\nAssist in design and development of various products including plastic and rubber injection molded parts.\nGenerate 3D and 2D CAD files\nWork on a project within the Product Development Process and create deliverables to achieve or improve product performance, cost & specification as well as project budget and schedule\nTranslate user or regulatory requirements into test and validation plans, engineering design documentation, or product build specifications. \nAid in technical support and presentation of data for the marketing and sales team\nConduct product validation and verification testing for production part or process approvals.\nWork directly with suppliers on technical issues or projects with the support of the purchasing department as required.\nAssist in quality aspects of the engineering design by identifying key quality characteristics and/or methods required to ensure product conformity to the design, user, or regulatory requirements.\nSupport manufacturing with aiding in work instruction generation, technical guidance on process settings and aid in development/implementation of new manufacturing test/build equipment as needed.\nTroubleshoot product and assist in root cause analysis as well as corrective action implementation.\nUpdating, creating engineering documentation (drawings, user instructions, 3D CAD data), Bills of Materials. \nProvide design support for new product development, custom quote and custom design modifications.\nExecutes any other instruction as assigned by the Chief Engineer.\n\nRequired qualifications, skill & Experience\nMaster’s or Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or related field.\n10 years of experience working in a development/manufacturing environment.\nDemonstrated experience developing a product from cradle to grave.\nMinimum of 5 years in a leadership position with multiple direct reports.\nExperience in working within an ISO quality system is a plus.\nStrong understanding of Engineering principles \nKnowledge of Electrical/Electronics concepts a definite plus.\n2D and 3D CAD skills, SolidWorks preferred\nExperience with Solidworks PDM a plus\nWorking knowledge of Design For Manufacturing and FEA a plus\nFamiliar with Stage Gate style product development cycles.\nMust be a good team player as well as an individual contributor\nExperience in product development, program management or sustainment engineering\nKnowledge of various manufacturing processes, experience with design for plastic or rubber injection molding and material selection\nBi-Lingual French/English is a strong plus. \nExperience working with contracts and within regulatory requirements is a plus.\nExperience with 3D printing a plus.\nExperience in lean manufacturing and root cause analysis is a plus.\nExperience with product certifications such as NFPA, NIOSH, etc. a strong plus.\nGood troubleshooting and analytical skills including root cause analysis.\nAbility to lead and develop a team.\nMust be able to work in a cross functional environment.\nMust be able to interface with colleagues in a virtual environment.\nSense of urgency and ability to prioritize tasks effectively to ensure deadlines are met and to execute/close out projects.\nAbility to travel outside of Canada, primarily to United States, on an as needed basis. \nApproximately 25% travel
