Airbus is a European aerospace group formed in 1970 as a consortium of French, German, British and Spanish manufacturers to build a competitor to the American aircraft industry, and now the largest commercial aircraft maker in the world. Its passenger jets run from the A220 through the best-selling A320 family to the A350 widebody, built in an unusual pan-European industrial system where major sections are made in different countries and flown to final assembly lines.
