Contractors are employed by a 3rd party vendor and placed on assignment to Airbus in America.\nYou will perform work to support painting, touch-up and detail parts activities. Our team members make it happen.\nYour working environment:\nOn the eastern border of Mississippi you’ll find Columbus, home to our Helicopter manufacturing and assembly lines and Center of Excellence for the entire North America region. It’s here that we produce the UH-72A Lakota Helicopters for the U.S. Army in addition to the H-125 aircraft for civil and commercial customers.\nYour challenges:\nPerform preparation for painting to include; repairs, sanding, taping and surface preparation.\nPerform initial inspection of components and parts to ensure all defects are noted prior to painting.\nPerform stripe layout as specified by customer.\nUse a variety of standard and specialized hand tools, power equipment and measuring devices and test equipment.\nAssure that completed work complies with FAA regulations, customer requirements and company specifications.\nMust be able to support and train other employees with technical knowledge and skills.\nYour boarding pass:\n6 years of experience in automotive or aviation paint.\n Solid understanding of paint/prep practices.\nRequires the ability to read and interpret sketches and diagrams and apply .standard shop practices. Ability to train lower level employees.\nMust be proficient in body work and painting with basecoat/clear coat systems.\nAbility to communicate effectively in verbal and written form in English\nPhysical Requirements:\nAble to use all tools and equipment used in the paint department.\nAble to lift up to 60 lbs. if necessary.\nMust be able to bend, stoop, squat and use ladders as necessary to complete the tasks. Must be able to travel offsite for customer work requirements.\nOnsite or remote: 100% Onsite with possible travel\nVision: able to see and read computer screens and other electronic equipment with screens, able to read documents, reports and engineering drawings. Several times a week\nHearing: able to participate in conversations in person and via teleconference or phone and to hear sounds on the production floor including safety warnings or alarms. Daily\nSpeaking: able to speak in conversations and meetings, deliver information and participate in communications. Daily\nEquipment Operation (personal computer, telephone, copies, fax machine, and related office equipment and using electronic identification card to enter building floors and internal doors): able to operate most office and personal electronic equipment and some tools including production tools such as hydraulic lifts, paint guns, sanders, buffers, etc. Daily \nCarrying: able to carry documents, tools, drawings, electronic equipment up to 60lbs/27kgs.\nLifting: able to lift documents, tools, drawings, electronic equipment up to 60lbs/27kgs.\nPushing / Pulling: able to push and pull small office furniture and some equipment and tools. Daily\nSitting: able to sit for long periods of time in meetings, working on the computer. Several times a month\nSquatting / Kneeling: able to squat or kneel to retrieve or replace items stored on low shelving or to accomplish painting or aircraft. Daily\nStanding: able to stand for discussions in offices or on the production floor. Daily\nTravel: able to travel independently and at short notice.
