Systems Engineer for MMD HW&SW Specification, Dev. Coordination and Integration

Within the MIS Develop. / Maintenance ED & FCAS (TASDM4) department of Airbus Defence & Space GmbH in Getafe, we specialize in IT solutions designed to guarantee airworthiness for airborne weapon systems, thereby enabling safe operations in operational and technical/logistical areas. Our years of experience in operating and supporting these systems for a wide range of internal and external customers and platforms drove the development of the modular and platform-independent ground support system MOSS (Maintenance and Operation Support Solution). In its first stage of expansion, MOSS is designed to continue ensuring the operation, repair, and aircraft maintenance of the Eurofighter.

With the recently launched European development project, the Eurodrone (MALE RPAS), MOSS must be extended to a new product that incorporates new requirements and current technologies titeled RLMIS (RPAS Logistic Management Information System).

If you want to take on this great challenge - join us. To strengthen our team, we are looking for a Systems Engineer for MMD HW&SW Specification, Development Coordination and Integration.

The core responsibility of this position is to support the department in the specification of the MMD and the RLMIS owned MMD SW Components, with a specific focus on MALE RPAS-specific software modules and their integration into the overall system.

Your main tasks and responsibilities include:

• Installation and Administration of the Getafe Laboratory which includes:
  • Installation and administration of Linux environments including RedHat Enterprise Linux
  • Configuration of Server Client Networks including DNS, DHCP, NFS, Identification & Authentification, Security Hardening
  • Virtualization technologies like VirtualBox, Proxmox, Hyper-V including installation and deployment.
  • Docker/Podman technologies including deployment, management, installation...
  • Scripting skills (Bash, Python, Ruby, ...).
• MMD integration
  • Multi-Layer Software integration on MMD Hardware using technologies like:
    • API Rest, web sockets and OpenApi applications
    • Public Key infrastructure & Certificates Management
    • RHEL Identity and Access Management tools
    • Privileged Access Management (PAM)
    • Single Sign-On and Federation technologies
  • Provide technical leadership and guidance towards supplier, ensuring adherence to architectural principles and best practices
  • Conduct performance analysis, capacity planning and troubleshooting
  • Ensure compliance with security policies, regulatory requirements and industry standards.
  • Ensure effective integration of lessons learnt.
• Support external SW Development Teams by:
  • Point-of-Contact for technical discussions
  • Support evolution of requirements and reviews of Supplier deliverables
  • Support integration and testing activities on Supplier and Industry side

You possess the following knowledge and qualifications:

• Completed degree in Computer Science or a comparable field of study with a focus on Computer Science.
• At least 5 years of relevant professional experience.
• 5 years ofproven experience in IT Administration
• 5 years of proven experience in SW integration in Linux environments, preferred RHEL
• Extensive knowledge and experience in planning and executing software and system tests for complex software systems.
• A passion for working in a quality-conscious and agile team environment.
• Proficiency in both German and English (written and spoken).
• Confident demeanor, strong teamwork skills, initiative, and flexibility.

Familiarity with the following tools would be an advantage:

• Tool based interface design using ICDMS and DOORS
• Experience in Project Management.
• Experience in Supplier Management
• Proficiency in the Microsoft product suite (Windows, Office, etc.).
• Knowledge of DOORS and CAMEO is desirable .
• Linux Operating System, preferred RHEL (RedHat Enterprise Linux)
• Virtualization and containerization technologies like VirtualBox, Proxmox, Hyper-V, Docker or Podman

The following skills would be a plus:

• Knowledge of Eurofighter and/or A400M ground support and maintenance information systems is desirable.
• Knowledge of the processes and procedures of an aviation unit (flying unit) in the areas of operation, maintenance, and repair is desirable.
• Knowledge of airworthiness requirements for airborne systems is desirable.
