We are building a shared “robot data ecosystem” where datasets, trained models, and benchmarks are available to everyone. Researchers around the world will be able to evaluate their models on standardized humanoid robots through our open evaluation platform.\nFor researchers, this means an opportunity to:\nWork on fundamental challenges in robotics and AI: multimodal learning, tactile-rich manipulation, sim-to-real transfer, and large-scale benchmarking.\nAccess state-of-the-art infrastructure: hundreds of humanoid robots, GPU clusters, high-fidelity simulators, and a global-scale evaluation pipeline.\nCollaborate with leading experts across academia and industry, and publish results that will shape the next decade of robotics.\nContribute to an initiative that will redefine the future of embodied AI-with all results made open to the world.\nKey Responsibilities\nDesign, implement, and maintain large-scale ML pipelines and optimize model performance for training on massive robot datasets\nDesign, deploy, and maintain distributed training clusters to reduce model development cycles\nCollaborate closely with VLA researchers to capture evolving ML infrastructure, data pre-processing, training, monitoring, evaluation, and deployment requirements and continuously improve ML pipeline through analysis and experimentation.\nOptimize ML infrastructure and pipeline for cost, performance, and reliability\nDesign, develop, and maintain MLOps tools and platforms to ensure VLA researchers can efficiently visualize and analyze the performance\nRequirements\nRequired Qualifications\nMaster’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).\n5+ years of professional experience as a software engineer in MLOps engineering, machine learning, or robotics.\nExperience in deploying distributed systems to popular cloud services such as AWS, GCP, Azure. \nExperience in orchestration tools such as Airflow, Dagster, or Kedro.\nHigh proficiency in PyTorch or JAX.\nPreferred Qualifications\nExperience with training and fine-tuning techniques for RL, VLM, and VLA models, including distillation, supervised fine-tuning, and policy optimization.\nExperience building ETL/ELT pipelines for data processing.\nExperience in hyper-parameter optimization.\nExperience in distributed training frameworks and cluster management for deep neural network training.\nDeep understanding of GPU memory management and optimization techniques.\nExperience in analyzing, monitoring, and managing data quality.\nExperience with processing robotics-related sensor data (e.g., RGB/Depth images, point clouds), including knowledge of image/signal processing, sensor fusion, and time synchronization.\nExperience with ROS/ROS2.\nHigh proficiency in SQL.\nExperience optimizing system performance using performance analysis tools.\nOthers (linguistic qualification, etc.)\nHighly appreciated\nEnglish proficiency at business level\nBenefits\nThere are currently no comparable projects in the world that collect data and develop foundation models on such a large scale. As mentioned above, this is one of Japan’s leading national projects, supported by a substantial investment of 20.5 billion yen from NEDO.\nThis position will play a crucial role in determining the success of the project.
