We engineer our own hardware, develop our own software, and manufacture products in our Jacksonville facility.\nOur engineers work across the full product lifecycle, from concept and prototype through production and field support.\nThe Opportunity\nWe are seeking a hands-on Lead Product Engineer with strong electrical engineering expertise and broad mechanical design capability. This role will own the development of electromechanical products used daily in automotive repair environments.\nA primary focus will be leading the transition from aging commercial tablet-based hardware to a new single-board-computer platform with a custom carrier board. You will oversee electronics integration, mechanical design, manufacturing readiness, validation, and continuous product improvement.\nAs our first dedicated hardware engineer, you will help establish engineering standards, influence product architecture, and build future technical teams.\nKey Responsibilities\nElectrical & Electronics\nReview and improve schematics, PCB layouts, and carrier board designs.\nDesign wiring harnesses, power systems, connector interfaces, and sensor integrations.\nBuild, test, and troubleshoot prototypes using scopes, meters, and diagnostic tools.\nMaintain engineering documentation, BOMs, schematics, and revision control.\nSupport EMI/ESD, thermal, ingress protection, and reliability requirements.\nEmbedded & Control Systems\nConfigure and troubleshoot single-board computers, industrial PCs, sensors, and control systems.\nWork with USB, CAN, RS-232/485, I2C/SPI, Bluetooth, and Wi-Fi interfaces.\nDevelop engineering utilities, automation tools, calibration software, and test scripts in Python or C/C++.\nCollaborate closely with software and firmware teams.\nMechanical & Product Design\nDesign enclosures, frames, fixtures, mounts, and adjustable mechanisms using 3D CAD.\nCreate production drawings with appropriate tolerances and GD&T.\nPrototype and iterate designs using in-house equipment.\nOwn critical alignment and accuracy requirements related to ADAS calibration systems.\nManufacturing & Quality\nApply DFM/DFA principles to improve manufacturability and reduce cost.\nDevelop assembly procedures, work instructions, fixtures, and test methods.\nSupport pilot builds, production launches, and ongoing manufacturing operations.\nInvestigate product failures and implement corrective actions.\nParticipate in DFMEA, PFMEA, validation testing, change control, and compliance activities.\nSupplier & Cross-Functional Support\nWork directly with PCB vendors, machine shops, molders, and contract manufacturers.\nSupport sourcing, supplier qualification, first article inspections, and product launches.\nPartner with Product, Quality, Purchasing, Technical Support, and Operations teams.\nContribute to intellectual property development and patent activities.\nQualifications Required\n6+ years developing electromechanical products.\nStrong electrical engineering foundation with experience reviewing schematics and PCB designs.\nExperience taking physical products from concept through production.\nManufacturing support experience, including pilot builds and production ramp-up.\nHands-on experience with soldering, wiring, harness fabrication, and electronic troubleshooting.\nProficiency with 3D CAD (SolidWorks preferred; equivalent platforms accepted).\nExperience with embedded systems, industrial computing platforms, or control systems.\nAbility to write or modify engineering software, scripts, or test utilities.\nStrong root-cause analysis and technical documentation skills.\nComfortable working between engineering labs and manufacturing environments.\nADAS Knowledge Required\nCandidates should have a strong understanding of modern ADAS systems, including cameras, radar, LiDAR, ultrasonic sensors, and calibration procedures. The ability to understand OEM calibration requirements, sensor alignment tolerances, and calibration workflows is highly desirable.\nPreferred\nAutomotive, ADAS, diagnostics, collision repair, instrumentation, or precision equipment experience.\nExperience with machine vision, cameras, radar, LiDAR, IMUs, or alignment systems.\nInjection molding, tooling, sheet metal, additive manufacturing, or battery systems experience.\nFamiliarity with OBD-II, J2534 PassThru, and CAN-based vehicle diagnostics.\nLean manufacturing, Six Sigma, ISO 9001, or IATF 16949 experience.\nExperience in fast-growth or private-equity-backed organizations.\nWhat Success Looks Like\n90 Days\nBecome fully proficient with AirPro products and calibration processes.\nIdentify opportunities to improve manufacturability and reliability.\n6 Months\nOwn the design and support of at least one product line.\nImplement production-ready improvements and DFM enhancements.\n12 Months\nLead a product from concept through production release.\nEstablish robust documentation, validation, and supplier processes.\nWork Environment\nThis position is based on-site in Jacksonville, Florida. Work is performed across engineering labs, prototype benches, manufacturing areas, and vehicle calibration environments.
