The principal area of focus is on Process Safety Management through, the assessment of technical, engineering, and business risks to protect against losses. The successful candidate will interface closely with multi-disciplinary engineers, project teams and operational representatives.\nKey Accountabilities:\nProvide day-to-day support to engineering and operating teams in process safety management and/or fire protection engineering\n\nCategorize process safety events in hazardous classifications by calculating discharges\n\nLead, facilitate and/or participate in process hazard analysis, such as Hazops, What-If, Operational Risk Assessment, etc.\n\nAssist with hazard identification and mitigation of operational process risks to identify as low as reasonably practicable safeguards\n\nLead, facilitate and/or participate root cause investigations on process safety events, develop recommendations to improve the process safety in our operations and mitigate future incidents\n\nDeliver technical safety engineering expertise to meet company's process safety and fire protection standards as well as standard industry practice (e.g. API, NFPA, CSA)\n\nSupport and promote the Process Safety culture at in Oilsands operations.\n\nAnalyze lagging indicators on Process Safety Events, identify trends and develop solutions to mitigate future incidents\n\nOther Details:\nJob location: Calgary, Alberta\n\nThis is a safety sensitive position\n\nShift schedule: Monday-Friday, office based\n\nSkills & Qualifications:\nMinimum 10 years of Operation/Process experience required\n\n Experience in the petroleum industry in an engineering design and/or operations capacity\n\nProcess Safety Engineering experience preferred\n\nChemical Engineering or Process Engineering background would be an asset; not necessarily required\n\nRegistration or eligibility to register with APEGA (preferred)\n\nNot the job you are looking for?
