This is an opportunity to help shape Airtree and make an impact on our region's tech ecosystem.\nThe Role\nWe are hiring a Junior Accountant to join the finance team. You will join a team of four, led by our Financial Controller. The team looks after Airtree’s management company and each of our funds. Each fund has its own manager entity and its own set of books. That covers fund accounting, investor reporting, capital calls and distributions, tax, cash flow and the annual audit. This is an opportunity to get exposure to how a fund operates and get to learn every part of our finance operations. We have qualified Accountants in the team to support you to grow and achieve your CA/CFA qualification.\nWe’re currently onboarding an external fund administrator to support our fund administration processes. Our job is to review, query and approve everything before it goes out. You will be at the centre of that, running first-pass checks and outputs against how we’ve always done things. You will also help us build the processes that sit alongside it.\nWe’re adding this role to give the existing team more capacity and depth. It’s a broad role, and you will get exposure to far more than you would in a typical junior seat. If you’re early in your accounting career and want to understand how a venture fund really works, this is a great place to learn.\nWhat You Will Do\nFund finance\nRun first-pass tie-outs and outputs against our existing processes, and chase down anything that doesn’t match.\nDo the first review of capital calls and distributions before they go to the team for sign-off.\nSupport capital calls and distributions.\nHelp prepare quarterly investor reports and half-yearly financial statements. \nLiaise with auditors and tax advisors for annual audit and tax returns. \nInvestor requests and fundraising support\nComplete LP and super fund reporting templates, including SRS and look-through requests.\nSupport operational due diligence requests from investors during fundraising.\nManagement company support\nPrepare quarterly tax lodgements for our funds and management entities.\nAssist the management accountant with cash projection and delivering quarterly management pack.\nTake transactional work off the team’s plate, including expense recharges between entities, reconciliations and payment admin.\nRequirements\nMust haves\nAn accounting degree.\nCA/CPA qualified or in progress.\n~3 years’ experience, at roughly Associate level at a Big 4 or mid-tier firm.\nAdvanced Excel skills. You will spend a lot of your time on reconciliations and tie-outs.\nStrong attention to detail. You notice when a number’s slightly off. \nAbility to meet strict deadlines. \nTeam player.
