With backing from our investors, including Blackstone, this is just the beginning…\nCome join the A-Team at AirTrunk, where the cloud meets the ground.\nA Snapshot\nAs a Site Design Manager, you will report to the Project Director and work closely with the Development, Design, Technology, Commissioning and Operations teams to ensure AirTrunk's design standards are successfully delivered during construction.\nYou will be the primary design representative on site, providing technical leadership throughout construction while ensuring the original design intent is maintained. Acting as the interface between the Design Team and Construction Team, you will proactively resolve technical issues, coordinate consultants, contractors and vendors, and ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget and to AirTrunk's world-class quality standards.\nYou will make your mark by:\nLeading the implementation of AirTrunk's design during construction.\nActing as the technical authority for all design-related matters on site.\nWorking closely with General Contractors, consultants, vendors and Owner Supplied Equipment (OSE) suppliers to resolve design issues quickly.\nSupporting Project Managers to ensure design decisions minimise programme and commercial impacts.\nDriving design quality throughout construction, commissioning and handover.\nEnsuring customer requirements are incorporated while maintaining AirTrunk design standards.\nCollaborating with Development, Technology, Design and Operations teams to continuously improve design standards and construction methodologies.\nYour Day to Day\nDesign Leadership\nLead design coordination throughout the construction phase.\nMaintain ownership of the approved design throughout delivery.\nReview contractor proposals and ensure compliance with AirTrunk standards.\nManage design changes and ensure appropriate governance and approvals.\nCoordinate consultant responses to RFIs and technical queries.\nDrive practical engineering solutions that balance programme, cost, quality and operational outcomes.\nTechnical Governance\nProvide technical leadership across Mechanical, Electrical, Civil and Architectural disciplines.\nReview contractor shop drawings, technical submissions and material approvals.\nEnsure all engineering decisions align with AirTrunk design philosophy.\nCoordinate multidisciplinary design interfaces.\nSupport design standardisation and continuous improvement across projects.\nConstruction Support\nWork alongside the Project Manager to provide technical support during construction.\nParticipate in design workshops, value engineering exercises and constructability reviews.\nAssist in resolving site issues that may impact safety, quality or programme.\nSupport procurement activities relating to Owner Supplied Equipment and specialist systems.\nEnsure consultant deliverables support construction sequencing.\nQuality\nChampion AirTrunk's quality-first culture.\nConduct design quality inspections throughout construction.\nEnsure installations meet AirTrunk standards and approved documentation.\nSupport defect management and close-out activities.\nAssist commissioning teams by ensuring systems are installed in accordance with design intent.\nStakeholder Management\nBuild collaborative relationships across Development, Design, Construction, Technology, Commissioning and Operations.\nCoordinate with customers regarding design requirements and changes.\nManage external consultants and specialist designers.\nSupport General Contractors with technical guidance while maintaining appropriate governance.\nProgramme & Risk\nIdentify design-related risks early.\nDevelop mitigation strategies with contractors and consultants.\nSupport programme recovery where design issues threaten delivery.\nAssist Project Managers in evaluating design impacts on cost and schedule.\nCommissioning & Handover\nSupport testing and commissioning activities.\nEnsure design documentation is complete and accurate.\nAssist Operations during project handover.\nCoordinate consultant support through practical completion and defects liability periods.\nKey Responsibilities\nAct as the site-based design authority throughout project delivery.\nManage consultant design deliverables during construction.\nCoordinate multidisciplinary engineering interfaces.\nLead design issue resolution across contractors, consultants and vendors.\nReview contractor design submissions for compliance.\nManage design changes through approved governance processes.\nSupport procurement and integration of Owner Supplied Equipment.\nParticipate in value engineering and constructability reviews.\nCoordinate customer design requirements.\nEnsure design quality throughout installation and commissioning.\nSupport Project Managers with technical decision making.\nMaintain accurate design records and reporting.\nDrive continuous improvement into future AirTrunk design standards.\nRequirements\nEssential\nBachelor's Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Civil or Structural Engineering.\n10+ years' experience delivering major infrastructure, mission-critical or data centre projects.\nSignificant experience managing design during construction.\nStrong understanding of multidisciplinary engineering systems.\nExperience working for a developer, consultant, contractor or hyperscale data centre provider.\nProven ability to coordinate consultants, contractors and multiple stakeholders.\nStrong commercial awareness with the ability to balance programme, cost and quality.\nExcellent communication and stakeholder management skills.\nAbility to work autonomously in a fast-paced environment.\nExperience delivering hyperscale data centres.\nExperience managing Owner Supplied Equipment (OSE).\nExperience in commissioning and operational readiness.\nKnowledge of BIM and digital engineering workflows.\nExperience
