Read our operating principles to see it in full.\nHow you'll make impact\nAs a Senior GRC Specialist, you'll act as the regional anchor for Mexico City while integrating closely with Airwallex's global Information Security team. Reporting to the Senior GRC Manager, you'll serve as a regional point of contact for government and regulatory bodies in Mexico, helping design and implement policies that balance regional requirements with global standards.\nManage and monitor security controls, executing to a high standard while continuously refining and iterating.\n\nServe as a trusted contact for Mexican regulatory bodies, customers, partners, and vendors, helping shape external understanding of Airwallex's security posture in the region.\n\nUse AI and automation to streamline compliance and security work, including reporting and communications.\n\nDevelop and maintain security documentation, including standards, policies, reporting metrics, dashboards, and evidence artefacts for internal and external stakeholders.\n\nAct as a subject matter expert and generalist for security compliance in the Mexico region, balancing strategic ownership with practical, hands-on security work.\n\nDrive initiatives independently using project management experience, without being bound to traditional solutions or methodologies.\n\nYou'll work from our Mexico City or San Francisco office three days a week.\nWhat we're looking for\nEssentials\n5-7 years of cybersecurity experience, with a proven ability to work and execute independently.\n\nMust hold a Mexican Tax ID (RFC) or have dual Mexican citizenship, as this role directly owns and represents the Mexico City region.\n\nFluent in both English and Spanish, written and spoken.\n\nDeep knowledge of relevant compliance and control frameworks such as PCI-DSS, ISO 27001, SOC 2, and similar standards, with a strong understanding of what makes a successful information security audit.\n\nStrong familiarity with Information Security concepts, practices, and solutions, whether from a technical background or through close collaboration with engineering teams.\n\nWorking knowledge of policy creation and maintenance, including tuning policies to meet complex regulatory requirements.\n\nWorking understanding of complex cloud environments and how they affect modern security and compliance operations.\n\nAbility to act as a subject matter expert and generalist for security compliance in the Mexico region.\n\nExperience managing the implementation and monitoring of security controls.\n\nAbility to develop and maintain security documentation, including standards, policies, reporting metrics, dashboards, and evidence artefacts.\n\nExperience driving initiatives independently and balancing strategic ownership with practical, hands-on security work.\n\nPreferred\nPrior experience in the fintech industry.\n\nKnowledge of security compliance specific to the finance industry or the Mexican or LATAM region.\n\nUnderstanding of financial services or payments.\n\nExperience applying AI and automation to compliance, security operations, reporting, or communications.\n\nAn industry-leading security degree or certification, such as a BS or MS in Cybersecurity, CISSP, CEH, or CISA.\n\nExperience using project management skills to deliver initiatives without being bound to traditional solutions or methodologies.\n\nYou'll thrive here if\nYou own the outcome and you don't wait for permission to fix what's broken.\n\nYou're comfortable with ambiguity.
