Read ouroperating principles to see it in full.\nHiring Location: Amsterdam, Netherlands (Hybrid Mode)\nTotal Compensation: 150,000 to 200,000 EUR\nSenior Software Engineer, Payments Platform\nHow you'll make impact\nYou'll help build the infrastructure that makes international payments reliable, scalable, and easier for businesses to accept across markets.\nDesign and implement new capabilities across Airwallex's international payments platform, helping businesses accept and process payments reliably across markets.\n\nBuild REST services and integration components within a backend microservices architecture, connecting with our React frontend.\n\nShape the next generation of Payment Acceptance infrastructure, keeping merchant needs and business outcomes at the centre of your decisions.\n\nConduct architectural reviews, address technical debt, and improve the operational effectiveness of current and upcoming solutions.\n\nPartner with the Payments Product team and, where needed, engineering teams at external partners.\n\nYou'll work in a hybrid setup, spending three days in the office.\nWhat we're looking for\nEssentials\nOver four years of experience using contemporary engineering methodologies, with an emphasis on continuous integration and quality engineering.\n\nExperience taking concepts from inception through implementation, with a focus on delivering thoroughly tested, high-quality solutions.\n\nStrong computer science fundamentals and recent hands-on experience with Java or Kotlin and Spring or Spring Boot.\n\nExperience designing and building REST APIs and working with high-volume distributed systems.\n\nExperience with Kafka event streams and distributed data storage systems such as Cassandra, Hazelcast, Oracle Coherence, or similar technologies.\n\nExperience with cloud platforms such as GCP or AWS, including services such as EC2, RDS, ELB, or CloudFront.\n\nExperience with containerisation technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.\n\nFamiliarity with operational tooling such as New Relic, StatsD, ELK, Datadog, or Prometheus.\n\nPreferred\nExtensive experience developing payment gateways, acquiring platforms, issuing platforms, or equivalent payment systems.\n\nExperience integrating local payment methods such as iDEAL, Klarna, or Trustly.\n\nExperience working with major card schemes such as Visa or Mastercard.\n\nYou'll thrive here if\nYou've worked in a high-growth or scaling environment and know what it takes to build systems that need to grow with the business.\n\nYou own the outcome and you don't wait for permission to fix what's broken.\n\nYou're comfortable with ambiguity.
