Read ouroperating principles to see it in full.\nHow you'll make impact\nYou’ll build and enhance Airwallex’s payment products and transaction systems using Java or Kotlin. You’ll design and develop components on our microservice framework, with a focus on scalable and reliable services. You’ll improve the systems that protect Airwallex’s products and services, using technologies such as graph databases, machine learning and LLMs to support risk management.\nDrive architectural improvements across distributed, high-concurrency systems by experimenting with new technologies and applying sound engineering judgment.\n\nImprove the reliability and scalability of payment products, transaction systems and risk-management capabilities.\n\nBuild services that support the detection and mitigation of evolving fraud risks across Airwallex’s products.\n\nPartner with senior engineers to raise software engineering practices and coding standards.\n\nMentor less-experienced engineers and help strengthen the team’s technical capability.\n\nYou'll be in our Singapore office five days a week.\nWhat we're looking for\nEssentials\nMore than four years of core Java development experience and more than five years of experience building internet applications, large financial systems or e-commerce platforms.\n\nMore than three years of experience developing risk or payment platforms.\n\nA bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related discipline.\n\nStrong proficiency in Java, including Java multithreading, high concurrency, I/O, NIO and network communication.\n\nExperience with common design patterns and the design and development of large-scale, distributed, high-concurrency, high-load and highly available systems.\n\nStrong knowledge of server technologies, including service-response and data-query optimisation, service quality and high-concurrency and high-availability problem solving.\n\nFamiliarity with Spring, Spring Boot and RESTful services.\n\nExperience with Gradle, Maven or other build tools.\n\nFamiliarity with JSON and XML.\n\nPreferred\nIn-depth knowledge of risk-management strategies and fraud-detection techniques, particularly in financial services or fintech.\n\nFamiliarity with graph databases and their use in pattern and anomaly detection.\n\nExperience with machine-learning models and frameworks for predictive risk analytics.\n\nFamiliarity with real-time data-streaming technologies such as Apache Kafka or Flink.\n\nStrong data-analytics skills, with experience using ClickHouse, Spark or NoSQL databases for large-scale data processing and risk analysis.\n\nAdvanced problem-solving skills, including experience with incident response and risk-mitigation planning.\n\nStrong communication skills and a collaborative approach to working with teammates and partners.\n\nYou'll thrive here if\nYou're comfortable making decisions with incomplete information and moving quickly anyway.\n\nYou're comfortable with ambiguity.
