For this position, we are seeking a talented individual to join AIS as a Infrastructure Engineer.\nCore Knowledge & Skills: Manages routing/switching and network security, multi-OS environments, virtualization (e.g., VMware/Hyper-V), core cloud services, and release of IaC via pipelines; automates common admin tasks.\n\nWork & Complexity: Plans and executes upgrades/migrations, configures network devices and services, responds to incidents, monitors performance, and manages resources.\n\nQuality & Independence: Implements proactive monitoring, produces accurate documentation, improves processes, and works independently within project scope.\n\nTeamwork & Communication: Partners with peer teams, shares knowledge, coordinates changes, reports progress, and supports/train users.\n\nConsulting & Engagement: Advises internal teams on solutions and tools, evaluates technologies, recommends optimizations, and coordinates vendor support.\n\nAs your initial project assignment, you will support the unique needs of our client as a Database Engineer.\n\nProject Summary\nThe DBA / Database Engineer provides specialized database and file share support to a large-scale enterprise cloud migration program as applications move from on-premises data centers to Azure and AWS. The role handles database assessment, migration, compatibility and remediation, integrity, and performance when applications need it. The role is remote.\nEngagement Context\nThe DBA / Database Engineer is part of a shared pool of specialists and is assigned on demand, based on application complexity and migration needs. The role works with migration teams and the program's data architect to resolve database challenges that go beyond the teams' own skills.\nKey Responsibilities\nAssesses databases for migration readiness and compatibility.\nPlans and executes complex database migrations.\nIdentifies and remediates compatibility issues.\nValidates data integrity after migration.\nTunes database performance in target environments.\nTroubleshoots database issues during migration and stabilization.\nImplements authenticated data access controls.\nRecommends database migration approaches to migration teams, working with the program's data architect.\nRequired for This Opportunity\nUS Citizen\nMinimum five years of database administration or database engineering experience\nExperience migrating databases such as SQL Server, Oracle, or PostgreSQL to Azure or AWS\nStrong skills in performance tuning and troubleshooting\nExperience validating data integrity\nWorks on issues of diverse scope under limited guidance and independently determines the approach to assignments\nNice to Have Skills\nExperience with Azure Government or AWS GovCloud environments\nAzure or AWS database certifications\nExperience with database migration tools such as Azure Database Migration Service or AWS Database Migration Service\nFederal program delivery experience\nExperience with replication and high availability\nExperience with infrastructure as code (IaC) tools such as Terraform, Bicep, or CloudFormation\nExperience using GitHub and GitHub Copilot for source control and AI-assisted development\nFamiliarity with AI technologies and their practical use in IT delivery or cloud environments\n\nAt AIS, we are committed to offering competitive and fair compensation that reflects the skills, experience, and contributions of each team member.\n\nThe targeted base salary range for this role is $90,000-$137,000 per year.
