For this position, we are seeking a talented individual to join AIS as a Lead Infrastructure Engineer.\nCore Knowledge & Skills: Aligns infrastructure strategy to business goals, leads large projects, applies compliance frameworks, designs high availability/disaster recovery and performance optimization patterns, and shapes deployment pipeline design.\n\nWork & Complexity: Directs cross-team programs, performs advanced tuning, implements high availability/failover architectures, leads audits, plans growth, and manages budgets.\n\nQuality & Independence: Delivers high-quality outcomes, sets team standards, introduces innovative solutions, and makes high-impact decisions.\n\nTeamwork & Communication: Leads the engineering team, develops talent, resolves conflicts, and communicates effectively with senior leadership and stakeholders.\n\nConsulting & Engagement: Provides high-level consulting to leadership, builds roadmaps, negotiates vendor contracts, and sponsors innovation initiatives.\n\nAs your initial project assignment, you will support the unique needs of our client as a Senior Azure Virtual Desktop Engineer.\n\nProject Summary\nAIS is seeking a Senior Azure Virtual Desktop Engineer to design, build, and optimize secure Azure Virtual Desktop environments that provide a dependable user experience for Codex-enabled development and broader virtual desktop modernization for a federal customer.\nKey Responsibilities\nEngineer AVD host pools, session hosts, images, scaling plans, application delivery, and user profiles.\n\nCreate secure desktop patterns for Codex access, including the required network segmentation, firewall rules, browser and developer-tool controls.\n\nImplement and support FSLogix, Entra ID, Intune, profile storage, image lifecycle, and monitoring integrations.\n\nPlan and execute Citrix transition activities, performance validation, capacity planning, and user acceptance testing.\n\nTroubleshoot performance, sign-in, profile, application, network, and graphics issues across the AVD stack.\n\nProduce deployment standards, operational runbooks, and technical knowledge transfer for steady-state support.\n\nRequired For This Opportunity\n7+ years of endpoint, virtual desktop, or Windows infrastructure engineering experience.\n\nHands-on AVD design and implementation experience with pooled and personal desktop patterns.\n\nStrong knowledge of FSLogix, Windows 11, Entra ID, Intune, Azure networking, and profile-storage design.\n\nExperience with image engineering, application packaging, performance tuning, and monitoring.\n\nAbility to work independently in a secure, highly controlled enterprise environment.\n\nNice to Have Skills\nCitrix migration experience.\n\nIGEL, thin-client, GPU-enabled desktop, or Azure NetApp Files experience.\n\nAzure Virtual Desktop Specialty certification.\n\nAt AIS, we are committed to offering competitive and fair compensation that reflects the skills, experience, and contributions of each team member.\n\nThe targeted base salary range for this role is $121,000-$182,000 per year.
