Working closely with the Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) and teams across Technology Services, you'll design, implement and improve the security controls, platforms and infrastructure that protect AJ Bell and our customers.\nThis is a hands-on engineering role where you'll have the opportunity to shape how we detect, prevent and respond to threats. You'll help us make our security capabilities more effective, integrated and automated, ensuring our controls are robust, scalable and built to last.\nYou'll combine technical expertise with a practical, risk-aware approach, helping embed security into the way we design, deliver and support technology. Your work will help protect customer trust while enabling AJ Bell to innovate, grow and operate with confidence.\nWhat you'll do\nDesign, delivery and ongoing improvement of enterprise security solutions across endpoint, cloud, network, DevOps and security monitoring environments.\nDesign and implement secure infrastructure controls aligned to industry best practice, ensuring scalability, resilience and operational effectiveness.\nEvaluate, select and implement new security tools and platforms, driving automation, integration and measurable value across the estate.\nAdoption of new security technologies, ensuring smooth transition into operational support and long-term sustainability.\nOversee patch management across systems and hardware, ensuring effective coordination and risk reduction.\nSupport server hardening and secure configuration initiatives in collaboration with Infrastructure and Service Delivery teams.\nProvide security oversight across projects and change initiatives, ensuring security is embedded from design through to delivery.\nSupport audits, regulatory reviews and due diligence activities, ensuring evidence and controls are robust and well maintained.\nAct as a key technical link between the CISO function and Infrastructure teams, ensuring alignment across security and operational delivery.\nContribute to continuous improvement of cybersecurity risk management processes, helping to enhance maturity across the organisation.\nWhat we're looking for\nYou'll bring strong technical security experience, a practical engineering mindset and the confidence to take ownership of solutions from design through to implementation and ongoing improvement.\nTechnical expertise\nProven experience implementing enterprise security platforms\nStrong knowledge of security risk management tools and techniques\nDeep understanding of security solutions (e.g. SIEM, PAM, IGA, endpoint protection, email/web gateways)\nExperience with firewall technologies (desirable)\nKnowledge of cloud security standards and solutions (desirable)\nStrong understanding of core IT and networking principles\nAwareness of the evolving threat landscape\nSkills and experience\nExperience working within frameworks such as ISO27001, NIST or similar\nSignificant experience in IT security\nFinancial services or e-commerce experience preferred\nStrong problem-solving skills and attention to detail\nAbility to take ownership and deliver end-to-end solutions\nEffective communicator, able to work across technical and non-technical teams\nCISSP (achieved or in progress) desirable\nAbout AJ Bell\nAt AJ Bell, we believe investing should feel good.
