The team has successfully established our ETL data streaming platform and is taking on a new capability to evolve critical business processes.\nYou will join a team that is established, skilled and highly collaborative. Your focus is to consistently increase team performance and pace of delivery. Your challenge is to increase technical depth, develop future technical leaders and expand our influence across Technology Services, working closely with product and operational teams to improve pace and quality.\nThis is a hands-on technical leadership role. You will be responsible for coaching and developing engineers, but you'll also be contributing to technical discussions, supporting architectural decision-making and helping to shape how our engineering capabilities evolve.\nWhat does the job involve?\nOwning a strategic engineering capability that influences how engineering is done across AJ Bell.\nBuilding a culture of continuous improvement and high performance.\nDriving adoption and evolution of the ETL Streaming platform.\nEstablishing a new capability to evolve critical business processes.\nEncouraging innovation and constant collaboration. \nPromoting AI-assisted software engineering to increase pace and quality.\nWorking with diverse software engineering and technology teams.\nBalancing product, operational, regulatory and strategic priorities. \nLeadership skills\nExperience leading software engineering teams.\nStrong coaching and mentoring skills.\nProven ability to develop engineers into technical leaders.\nExperience building high-performing cultures.\nExcellent stakeholder management and communication skills.\nThe right balance of management and technology focus. \nTechnical skills\nDeep background in software engineering.\nExperience in software and system integration\nStrong understanding of event-driven architecture.\nExperience in operating critical production services.\nKnowledge of cloud-native architecture.\nConfident in technical design and discussion. \nExperience owning and evolving engineering platforms used by multiple development teams. \nDesirable skills\nAWS serverless technologies. \nEvent streaming and messaging technologies. \nEnterprise integration patterns. \nPlatform engineering. \nModernisation programmes. \nFinancial services industry experience. \nExperience using AI-assisted engineering tools such as GitHub Copilot. \nAbout AJ Bell\nAt AJ Bell, we believe investing should feel good.
