Responsibilities include managing routing infrastructure, enhancing production systems, resolving network problems, creating automation, and ensuring reliable network services. This position supports Akamai's distributed compute platform and focuses on maintaining and improving critical systems for optimal performance and reliability.\nPartner with the best\nYou will work closely with SREs, network engineers and architects on infrastructure changes, incident resolution and improvements to routing services.\nAs a Senior II Site Reliability Engineer, you will be responsible for:\nOperating, maintain and troubleshoot Linux-based routing infrastructure in production.\nInvestigating BGP routing issues, network connectivity problems and routing configuration failures.\nSupporting routing software such as FRRouting (FRR), including configuration, upgrades and troubleshooting.\nDeveloping and maintain automation for routing infrastructure, configuration management and operational tasks using tools such as Ansible\nSupporting and deploying cloud-native, third party software utilizing an infrastructure as code paradigm\nParticipating in production incidents, perform root cause analysis and drive follow-up improvements.\nImproving monitoring, alerting and observability for routing services.\nDefining and maintain Service Level Indicators (SLIs) and Service Level Objectives (SLOs) for supported services.\nDo what you love\nTo be successful in this role you will:\nDemonstrate expertise in Site Reliability Engineering, Network Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a comparable role centered on infrastructure.\nDemonstrate expertise in Linux system administration and advanced troubleshooting abilities.\nDemonstrate expertise in TCP/IP networking, routing protocols, and efficient network troubleshooting techniques.\nDemonstrate expertise in BGP, routing policies, and foundational routing concepts.\nHave experience with routing software such as FRRouting (FRR) or similar technologies.\nAbout us\nAt Akamai, we make life better for billions of people, trillions of times a day.\nWhether you're streaming live events, scrolling social media, watching your favorite series, or managing your savings, we're the engine behind the scenes.
