Role Overview

We are looking for an experienced Business Analyst to support a Data Migration & Validation project within a structured business transformation environment. The role will work closely with business stakeholders, data teams, technical teams and project stakeholders to understand business requirements, support data migration activities, and ensure the accuracy, completeness and integrity of migrated data.

The successful candidate will act as a bridge between business and technical teams, translating business requirements into clear functional requirements and supporting data mapping, validation, reconciliation and issue resolution throughout the migration lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

Business Analysis & Requirements

Engage with business stakeholders to understand business processes, requirements and data-related needs.

Gather, analyse and document business and functional requirements.

Translate business requirements into clear specifications for technical and data teams.

Identify gaps, dependencies, risks and potential impacts associated with data migration activities.

Support process analysis and identify opportunities for process improvement.

Data Migration & Mapping

Support end-to-end data migration activities, from source-system analysis through to validation of migrated data.

Analyse source and target data structures and support data mapping and transformation requirements.

Work with technical teams to understand data extraction, transformation and loading processes.

Review migration rules and business logic to ensure they align with agreed requirements.

Support data cleansing and identification of data quality issues prior to migration.

Data Validation & Reconciliation

Develop and execute data validation and reconciliation activities to verify migrated data.

Perform data analysis using SQL and other appropriate analytical tools.

Compare source and target datasets to identify discrepancies, missing records, duplicates or inconsistencies.

Investigate data quality issues and work with technical teams and business stakeholders to determine root causes and appropriate resolutions.

Document validation results, exceptions and remediation actions.

Support User Acceptance Testing (UAT) and migration-related testing activities.

Stakeholder Management

Collaborate closely with business users, developers, data engineers, QA/testing teams and project managers.

Facilitate discussions to clarify requirements, data issues and business rules.

Communicate findings, risks, issues and progress clearly to relevant stakeholders.

Coordinate with cross-functional teams to ensure timely resolution of migration and validation issues.

Documentation & Reporting

Maintain clear documentation covering requirements, data mappings, validation rules, reconciliation results and identified issues.

Prepare status updates, issue logs and progress reports for project stakeholders.

Support the development of process flows, functional specifications and other project documentation.

Required Skills & Experience

Degree or equivalent qualification in Business Analysis, Information Systems, Computer Science, Data Analytics or a related discipline.

Proven experience as a Business Analyst, preferably within data migration, digital transformation or system implementation projects.

Hands-on experience with data validation, data reconciliation and data quality analysis.

Strong working knowledge of SQL for data analysis and validation.

Experience with data mapping, source-to-target analysis and migration requirements.

Strong understanding of business requirements gathering and functional documentation.

Experience working with both business and technical stakeholders in cross-functional project environments.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to investigate discrepancies and identify root causes.

Good understanding of UAT, test scenarios and defect/issue management.

Strong communication, stakeholder management and documentation skills.

Desirable Experience

Experience supporting large-scale system or platform migration projects.

Exposure to ETL processes and data transformation concepts.

Experience with data quality, master data or data governance initiatives.

Familiarity with tools such as Excel, Power BI, Tableau or other data analysis/visualisation tools.

Experience working in Agile or hybrid project delivery environments.

Experience within regulated, financial services, technology or other data-intensive environments.
