This role provides strategic and operational leadership to ensure data is trusted, secure, well-defined, and aligned with regulatory and organizational requirements.\n Serves as a key liaison between clinical, operational, and technical stakeholders, driving governance initiatives that support patient care, regulatory compliance, research, and data-driven decision-making. This role leads data governance workgroups, mentors team members, and ensures adoption of governance frameworks, tools, and best practices across the hospital.\n Responsibilities:\n\nLead the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of the enterprise data governance framework, platforms, policies, standards, and operating procedures to support regulatory reporting, audits, accreditation requirements, and enterprise data strategy.\nEnsure data governance initiatives align with organizational priorities, healthcare regulatory requirements, privacy standards, and applicable requirements such as HIPAA and Joint Commission standards.\nEstablish, maintain, and mature governance models, including data ownership, stewardship structures, accountability frameworks, and decision-making processes.\nProvide leadership, direction, prioritization, and mentorship to analysts, developers, engineers, and other contributors supporting data governance initiatives.\nOversee enterprise data quality programs, including defining metrics, thresholds, monitoring processes, and improvement strategies across clinical, financial, and operational domains.\nPartner with compliance, legal, security, and operational teams to ensure appropriate handling of protected health information (PHI), mitigate data risks, and improve data integrity, consistency, and usability.\nLead and facilitate enterprise and domain-specific data governance workgroups, including clinical, revenue cycle, and quality groups, to drive decisions on data definitions, standards, and quality improvements.\nServe as a primary point of contact for senior leaders, directors, and cross-functional teams on data governance matters, priorities, and issue resolution.\nDrive organizational adoption of governance practices through effective communication, training, stakeholder engagement, and change management strategies.\nDefine standards and best practices for metadata management, business glossary development, data lineage, data classification, and governance documentation.\nOversee onboarding and governance of critical data assets within catalog tools, ensuring appropriate stewardship, documentation, usability, and ongoing maintenance.\nDefine, monitor, and report KPIs for data governance effectiveness while leading continuous improvement initiatives to enhance governance processes, workflows, and stakeholder engagement.\nOther information:\nTechnical Expertise\n Advanced knowledge of data governance frameworks, including data quality, metadata management, master/reference data, and stewardship models.\n\nStrong understanding of healthcare data ecosystems, including EHR systems (e.g., Epic), regulatory reporting, and clinical/operational workflows.\nHands-on experience with data governance tools such as Alation, Collibra, Informatica, or Databricks Unity Catalog.\nProficiency in data analysis and reporting tools (e.g., SQL, Power BI, Excel) to assess data quality and governance metrics.\nAbility to translate complex technical concepts into actionable insights for non-technical stakeholders.\nDemonstrated experience leading data governance initiatives, programs, or teams.\nPrior experience in a healthcare setting strongly preferred.\nEducation and Experience\nEducation: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Healthcare Informatics, or a related field required.
