The DBA will be responsible for maintaining reliable database operations, troubleshooting complex issues, supporting application and infrastructure teams, and ensuring database environments meet established security and performance requirements.\nKey Responsibilities:\n Install, configure, administer, monitor, and maintain relational database environments supporting development, testing, staging, and production systems.\n Monitor database availability, capacity, and performance; identify bottlenecks and implement tuning and optimization strategies.\nManage database backup, recovery, replication, patching, upgrades, and disaster recovery processes to ensure system availability and data integrity.\nImplement and maintain database security controls, including user access, permissions, authentication, auditing, and vulnerability remediation.\nTroubleshoot database incidents, performance issues, failed jobs, connectivity problems, and application/database integration issues.\nCollaborate with application developers, infrastructure engineers, cybersecurity personnel, and DevSecOps teams to support deployments and resolve technical issues.\nDevelop and maintain database documentation, standard operating procedures, configuration records, and technical artifacts required for operational and security compliance.\nMinimum Required Qualifications:\nBachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and directly related professional experience. Significant relevant experience may be substituted for a degree. \n5+ years of professional experience administering enterprise database environments.\nHands-on experience with database technologies such as Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MySQL, or comparable enterprise relational database platforms.\nStrong experience with SQL, database performance tuning, query optimization, indexing, backup/recovery, and database troubleshooting.\nExperience implementing database security, access controls, patching, vulnerability remediation, and configuration management within secure environments.\nExperience supporting highly available production systems and coordinating database activities across application, infrastructure, and cybersecurity teams.\nPreferred Qualifications:\nExperience supporting database environments within the Department of Defense or other federal government agencies.\n Experience with cloud-hosted databases and services within Microsoft Azure or AWS environments.\nExperience supporting database automation, Infrastructure as Code, CI/CD pipelines, or DevSecOps environments.\nFamiliarity with DISA STIGs, NIST security controls, RMF, and federal cybersecurity requirements.\nExperience with database clustering, replication, high availability, and disaster recovery solutions.\nRelevant database, cloud, or cybersecurity certifications.\nExperience working in Agile/Scrum development and operations environments.\nClearance Requirement:\nActive Secret security clearance or higher.\nSalary Range\nMinimum $120,000 - Maximum $145,000 annually\nThe salary range listed for this position reflects Akumen, Inc.'s current estimate of the expected compensation for this role at the time of posting.
