The Network Engineer will be responsible for network architecture, routing and switching, firewall administration, performance optimization, troubleshooting, and ongoing modernization efforts. The ideal candidate has experience supporting complex LAN/WAN environments, cloud networking technologies, and security-focused network operations.\nKey Responsibilities\nDesign, implement, and maintain secure LAN, WAN, WLAN, and VPN network infrastructures.\nInstall, configure, and support routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers, and other network appliances.\nMonitor network performance, availability, and capacity to ensure optimal operations.\nTroubleshoot and resolve network outages, latency issues, and connectivity problems.\nConfigure and maintain DNS, DHCP, VLANs, routing protocols, and network security controls.\nImplement and maintain firewall rules, access controls, and network segmentation.\nPlan and execute network upgrades, migrations, and technology refresh initiatives.\nDevelop and maintain network diagrams, technical documentation, and standard operating procedures.\nSupport cloud networking environments, including Azure and AWS connectivity solutions.\nCollaborate with cybersecurity teams to ensure compliance with organizational security requirements.\nPerform vulnerability remediation and support audit and compliance activities.\nParticipate in on-call support and incident response activities as required.\nProvide technical recommendations regarding infrastructure improvements and emerging technologies.\nReport network health, project status, and operational metrics to leadership and stakeholders. \n\nRequired Qualifications\nBachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).\n5+ years of experience designing, implementing, and supporting enterprise networks.\nExperience with Cisco, Juniper, Aruba, Palo Alto, Fortinet, or similar networking platforms.\nStrong understanding of:\nTCP/IP\nOSPF, BGP, and EIGRP\nVLANs and network segmentation\nDNS and DHCP\nVPN technologies\nNetwork security principles\nExperience configuring and troubleshooting routers, switches, and firewalls.\nKnowledge of network monitoring and analysis tools.\nStrong documentation, communication, and problem-solving skills.\nPreferred Qualifications\nCisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA)\nCisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP)\nCompTIA Network+\nCompTIA Security+\nPalo Alto, Fortinet, or Juniper certifications\nExperience supporting cloud networking in Azure or AWS.\nExperience supporting federal government or DoD environments.\nFamiliarity with NIST, DISA STIGs, RMF, or CMMC requirements.\n\nClearance \nActive Secret clearance or higher clearance required. \n\nSalary Range\nMinimum $130,000 to $160,000 maximum\nThe salary range listed for this position reflects Akumen, Inc.'s current estimate of the expected compensation for this role at the time of posting.
