This role has a strong focus on functional testing of end-to-end systems and provides hands-on exposure to the full product stack, including software, firmware, hardware, and networked systems.\nThis position is well-suited for new graduates or early-career Quality Engineers who are self-starters, demonstrate a strong sense of ownership, and are eager to grow their technical skills. Successful candidates are strong problem solvers who are comfortable working with incomplete information, learning complex systems, and proactively identifying risk. You will be expected not only to execute tests, but to think critically about system behavior and drive quality improvements.\nWHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE IN THIS ROLE\nYou take ownership of assigned features or systems and proactively identify quality risks\nYou independently investigate issues, gather data, and propose next steps before escalating\nYou produce clear, actionable test documentation and bug reports\nYou continuously expand your technical understanding of the system under test\nYou collaborate effectively with engineering, product, and other QA teams to drive quality forward\nRESPONSIBILITIES\nDevelop a strong understanding of product functionality, system architecture, and data flow\nWrite, execute, and maintain test plans, test cases, and supporting documentation\nPerform manual end-to-end testing across hardware, firmware, software, and network components\nIdentify, log, track, and follow defects through resolution\nWrite high-quality, detailed, and reproducible bug reports\nAnalyze logs, metrics, and system data to troubleshoot and identify root causes\nSet up, configure, and maintain test environments, devices, and equipment\nTriage urgent or high-impact issues, prioritize appropriately, and propose solutions\nConfigure, maintain, and monitor test automation setups where applicable\nAssess risk and determine appropriate test strategy based on system complexity and impact\nCollaborate closely with developers, product managers, and other engineering teams\nContinuously look for opportunities to improve test coverage, tooling, and processes\nOther duties as assigned\nREQUIREMENTS\nRequired\n0-3 years of Quality Assurance or related technical experience\nB.A. or B.S. in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Computer Science, or relevant discipline \nStrong problem-solving and analytical skills with a methodical approach to troubleshooting\nDemonstrated technical aptitude and ability to learn new systems quickly\nAbility to work across hardware, software, and networked systems\nComfort working with incomplete information and ambiguous problems\nStrong attention to detail and a process-oriented mindset\nSelf-motivated with a demonstrated sense of ownership and accountability\nStrong written and verbal communication skills\nTeam-oriented mindset with the ability to collaborate effectively\nNice to Have\nExposure to test automation frameworks or tools\nFamiliarity with at least one programming or scripting language (e.g., Python, Java, JavaScript, C#, etc.)\nExperience analyzing logs, system data, or network traffic\nExposure to IoT, embedded, or distributed systems\nPlease note that sponsorship of new applicants for employment authorization, or any other immigration-related support, is not available for this position at this time.\nWHY WORK FOR ALARM.COM?\nCollaborate with outstanding people: We hire only the best.
