Reporting to the Engineering Manager, you will contribute to both frontend and backend architecture and implementation, helping guide the team in designing scalable, secure, and performant applications, including innovative features powered by large language models (LLMs).\nAs a senior member of the team, you’ll play a critical part in shaping the technical direction of projects, ensuring that work is well-sequenced, high-quality, and aligned with customer needs. You’ll deliver features end-to-end, from database to user interface, while promoting best practices in testing, observability, and continuous delivery and mentoring your peers. Depending on team needs, the role may also include some data engineering pipeline and infrastructure work.\nWhat You’ll Do\nDesign, develop, test, and debug full stack software (frontend and backend) with high quality, as a full-time member of a cross-functional product team.\nBuild innovative features, including AI features leveraging LLMs.\nContribute, as needed, to data engineering pipelines and the supporting infrastructure.\nSpend 75%+ of your time coding production-ready features, improving system architecture, and reducing technical debt.\nProvide technical leadership for your team and help improve your colleagues’ skills through code reviews, technical mentoring, role-modelling, coaching, and knowledge-sharing.\nLead technical innovation in the areas of component re-use, extensibility, maintainability, and scalability.\nMonitor your applications in production and proactively identify and fix issues clients are encountering.\nContribute to defining and implementing the product-wide technical roadmap, ensuring the success of cross-team technical initiatives and the responsible adoption of new technologies aligned with industry trends.\nIn the future, participate in an on-call rotation (that respects your time) to support your team’s software.\nIdentify gaps in product requirements and work with Product Owners to design features that meet client needs.\nPlan, implement, and execute end-to-end automated tests that validate quality results, and help evolve AlayaCare’s testing practices.\nHelp team members understand core concepts and tools of their craft.\nAnticipate problems, recognize barriers, and proactively raise concerns to management and to senior members of the technical organization.\nWhat You Bring to the Team\n4+ years of professional software engineering experience, including full stack development.\nDeep development experience in JavaScript and frontend frameworks such as Vue.js (preferred), React, or Angular, and the corresponding unit testing frameworks.\nDevelopment experience in Python.\nExperience using SQL databases, Git, CI/CD tools, Docker, SQLAlchemy, and cloud computing platforms (AWS preferred).\nAwareness of contemporary industry trends in technology, performance, and software development tooling and practice.\nExperience making difficult technical decisions in ambiguous situations.\nStrong communication skills, targeting both technical and non-technical audiences.\nExposure to LLM features or operational research is an asset.\nCollege degree (professional training or technical program) in computer science or engineering, or demonstrated learning experience.\nStrong communication and collaboration skills in both French and English, with the ability to communicate clearly with technical and non-technical audiences.
