This position is responsible for performing maintenance, repair, adjustment and minor construction work to ensure that facilities are properly maintained and meet Albuquerque Academy standards. The Maintenance Technician must perform building maintenance tasks in one or more fields. They will also perform general cleaning and other tasks as assigned. Duties may fall into a variety of tasks that require strict adherence to safety standards and compliance.\nThis position requires a highly motivated, self-starting individual with a positive attitude who needs little oversight in the daily scope of their duties and work activities. A successful candidate possesses strong verbal communication skills. They are a problem-solver. They are well organized and can effectively prioritize the work for each project. The position is open until filled, and applicants are asked to submit a resume along with their online application.\nEssential Functions\nPerform preventative maintenance tasks on building systems. \nAssist management in planning and scheduling preventative maintenance work and recommend approaches to preventative maintenance programs.\nRepair and maintain a variety of facilities systems, components and structures. Repair building plumbing and door hardware. Maintain indoor/outdoor facilities, painting- interior/exterior, Drywall/texture and related components. Conduct structural inspections for safety.\nUnclog plumbing drains as needed throughout campus, utilizing drain cleaning equipment. \nTrack and close assigned work orders daily on the campus work order management system. \nMaintain a broad working knowledge of materials, systems and code requirements related to maintenance of campus buildings and facilities.\nRespond to campus facilities emergencies and closures including adverse weather to ensure that all facilities are protected and remain operational. Assist with tasks required in preparing to open campuses after a closure, including snow and ice removal, systems and equipment checks and start-up operations as assigned.\nFollow established checks to prevent building malfunctions, breakdowns, and general depreciation.\nEnsure a constant and consistent supply of materials and equipment at all times.\nOperate forklifts, scissor-lifts, and other heavy mechanical equipment as required. \nMaintain compliance with established safety policies, procedures, and certification requirements.\nMaintain a clean work area throughout the duration of projects and clean up the job site following work completion. \nMaintain safe working conditions for self and others at all times. \nStore and maintain supplies, tools, and equipment in a clean and orderly fashion.\nPrepare reports and/or maintenance records, as needed.\nSupport the School and its mission, always maintaining a high degree of professionalism.\nFoster and maintain a culture of mutual respect, equitable practice, and joy. \nDemonstrate cultural competence and communicate and collaborate effectively across differences.\nOther Responsibilities\nAttend employee meetings as needed.\nPerforms other related duties as assigned by the supervisor. \nJob Qualifications\nEducation\nA high school diploma or equivalent is required.\nExperience\nMinimum two years of experience as a Facilities Maintenance Technician is required.\nExperience in HVAC and/or plumbing is highly desired.\nKnowledge/Skills/Abilities\nAbility to effectively communicate and understand instructions both verbally and in writing from management, outside vendors/contractors, and other school personnel.\nAbility to work effectively under pressure and against strict time constraints.\nDemonstrated attention to detail and ability to multitask when necessary.\nAbility to be creative and seek proactive solutions to problems and situations with little to no supervision. \nSpecial Requirements\nAbility to pass background check.\nForklift driver certification within six months of employment is required.\nA valid Driver’s License is required. \nMust be legally authorized to work in the United States.\nWorking Environment\nWork is performed in both indoor and outdoor settings on campus.\nWork hours are generally from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.\nOn call work rotation as required.\nPhysical Demands\nAbility to lift and carry up to 70 pounds with or without assistance\nAbility to work on a ladder at a minimum height of 20 feet off the ground\nFrequent standing, kneeling, squatting, bending, stooping, pushing, pulling, and twisting \nFrequent walking, climbing, grasping, overhead reaching, and wrist flexing/extending\nFrequent driving\nEEO/ADA Compliance\nAlbuquerque Academy is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
