As the site’s capital procurement lead, you will provide procurement and commercial leadership across capital projects, helping teams make sound sourcing, contracting and supplier decisions that support safe, timely and cost-effective delivery.\nAbout the role\nBased at Portland Aluminium Smelter, you will lead capital procurement activities for the site’s portfolio of capital projects. Reporting to the Procurement Manager - Capital in Perth, you will be accountable for translating capital procurement strategy into practical project and site outcomes.\nYou will oversee the capital procurement pipeline from early project planning through contract close-out. This includes procurement planning, sourcing and market engagement, tendering and evaluation, commercial negotiation, contract formation, supplier performance, variations and claims, governance, risk management and reporting.\nWorking effectively with appropriate autonomy, you will establish priorities, guide project-specific procurement approaches and provide clear commercial advice to site and project stakeholders. You will balance value, schedule, quality, risk and governance requirements, resolve complex commercial matters and escalate material issues with evidence-based recommendations.\nYou will also provide day-to-day functional leadership to the site-based capital procurement specialist, including work planning, coaching and quality oversight. Success in the role will rely on your ability to lead through influence and build productive relationships across project, engineering, operations, finance, legal and supplier groups.\nIn this role, you will:\nLead capital procurement planning and delivery across Portland Aluminium Smelter’s portfolio of capital projects.\nDevelop fit-for-purpose procurement and commercial strategies that support safe, timely, cost-effective and compliant project delivery.\nLead end-to-end sourcing and contracting for critical and complex capital packages.\nProvide commercial leadership throughout the contract lifecycle, including supplier performance, change management and contract close-out.\nMaintain effective procurement governance and manage commercial, supply, contractor and delivery risks.\nPartner with project, engineering, operational and functional stakeholders to support effective commercial decisions.\nProvide functional leadership, coaching and delivery oversight to the site-based capital procurement specialist.\nMonitor procurement performance, milestones, risks and value outcomes, maintaining alignment with the broader capital procurement team.\nWhat’s on offer\nAttractive remuneration and variable bonus plan.\nCareer growth and development opportunities.\n18 weeks paid parental leave for primary caregivers.\nPaid employee volunteering hours to support our communities.\nAccess to the My Alcoa Benefits program, including travel, lifestyle, health and well-being discounts.\nA diverse and inclusive workplace supported by employee inclusion groups.\nWhat you can bring\nA relevant tertiary qualification in procurement, supply chain, business, commerce, engineering or a related discipline, or equivalent relevant experience.\nDemonstrated procurement and contract management experience supporting capital projects and complex commercial packages.\nEnd-to-end experience across procurement planning, sourcing, tendering, negotiation, contracting and supplier performance management.\nExperience in an industrial, resources, manufacturing, heavy engineering or similarly complex project environment is desirable.\nSound commercial judgement and an understanding of project delivery, contract risk, cost drivers and supply markets.\nThe ability to work with autonomy, manage competing priorities and deliver outcomes in a changing environment.\nEffective stakeholder engagement, communication and influencing skills, including the ability to navigate complex commercial matters and raise and explore alternative perspectives.\nExperience providing functional leadership, supported by effective systems capability and a commitment to ethical, safe and accountable decision-making.\nAdditional information\nInterviews may progress prior to the closing date, although all applications will be considered.\nYou will only be contacted if you are shortlisted for an interview, this process can take up to four weeks from the closing date.\nBe part of shaping our organisation and join us in building a legacy of excellence for future generations.\nAbout the Location\nOur Portland Smelter is a joint venture between Alcoa of Australia (55%), CITIC (22.5%) and Marubeni Aluminium Australia (22.5%).
