This highly visible, floor-focused leadership role is well suited to an experienced manufacturing leader who can guide supervisors, strengthen operating discipline, and improve safety, quality, productivity, and equipment reliability.\nAbout the Role\nAs Casthouse Superintendent, you will lead the day-to-day operation of the Casthouse, with most of your time spent engaging with teams on the production floor. You will provide direction and development to four supervisors, with the potential for a fifth depending on relief coverage, while supporting hourly employees in a union environment. You will help ensure the safe, efficient, and reliable production of high-quality products from molten metal receipt through finished product shipment. The standard schedule is Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.; the role must also support operations across multiple shifts as business needs require.\nKey Responsibilities\n· Lead daily Casthouse operations with clear priorities for safety, production, quality, cost, customer requirements, and environmental and operational compliance.\n· Build a strong safety culture through visible floor leadership, routine audits, hazard identification, employee engagement, and consistent accountability for safe work practices.\n· Coach and develop frontline supervisors and employees, strengthening communication, teamwork, decision-making, and performance across shifts.\n· Monitor production and material flow, troubleshoot operational issues, and align staffing, equipment, and resources to maintain reliable output and minimize disruption.\n· Partner with Maintenance and support functions to prioritize repairs, coordinate preventive maintenance, reduce equipment downtime, and advance continuous improvement opportunities.\n· Maintain operating discipline and quality-system compliance, including ISO 9001 requirements; support department administration and serve as acting Casthouse Manager when needed.\nWhat You Bring\n· Significant leadership or supervisory experience in a manufacturing, smelting, casting, or heavy industrial environment; previous superintendent experience is not required.\n· Experience leading salaried supervisors and working effectively with hourly employees in a union environment is preferred.\n· Hands-on understanding of Casthouse or related aluminum operations, with the ability to oversee safe and reliable production and respond effectively to operational issues.\n· Demonstrated commitment to safety, operational excellence, and continuous improvement, supported by strong planning, organization, and decision-making skills.\n· Clear communication, coaching, and employee-development skills, with the ability to set expectations, promote accountability, and collaborate across shifts and support departments.\n· Quality or laboratory experience related to metal testing, chemistry, composition, or process control is preferred; familiarity with ISO systems, Lean Manufacturing, or Six Sigma is also beneficial.\nAdditional Preferred Knowledge\nKnowledge of casting processes, including chemistry calculations, scrap utilization, skim and dross management, environmental regulations, metal planning, and standards-based operations, is desirable.\nWhat’s On Offer\nAt Alcoa, our care for people philosophy is backed by our excellent total rewards package that we provide our employees effective on your date of hire, such as:\n· Competitive compensation packages, including pay-for-performance variable pay, recognition and rewards programs.\n· 401(k), employer match up to 6%, additional employer retirement income contribution (no vesting period)\n· Healthcare benefits: medical, Rx, dental, vision, flexible spending account, health savings account (generous employer contribution), life and accident insurance\n· Work-life balance programs: flexible work scheduling, hybrid/remote working\n· Paid time off: 15 vacation days prorated in the 1st year based on hire date, 10 holidays including 1 flexible holiday of your choice, 7 illness days, Care for Family leave up to 40 days, up to 5 bereavement days, maximum of 30 jury duty days, and up to 10 days annual training for military leave\n*This benefit information applies to US based applicants only.
