You have the power to shape things to make them better.\nAbout the Role\nJoin our team as a Mechanical Reliability Engineer and help improve equipment reliability and performance within Wagerup Refinery’s Raw Materials and Digestion area (OC1). This 14-month fixed-term or secondment opportunity is based on site, working a Monday-to-Friday roster.\nUnder the guidance of the Area Senior Mechanical Engineer, you’ll focus on closing reliability gaps and delivering targeted engineering work packages and improvement projects, without responsibility for day-to-day operational support. You’ll take practical solutions through to implementation, ensuring equipment is ready for operation and maintenance.\nWorking with OC1 engineers, central reliability and asset integrity teams, and Alcoa’s Centre of Excellence, you’ll:\nDeliver engineering improvements that address recurring equipment and safety issues and enhance quality and performance.\nImplement new technologies and cost-saving solutions, including measures to address equipment obsolescence.\nDevelop and enhance predictive and preventative maintenance strategies.\nConduct root cause analyses and develop scopes for major equipment repairs.\nSupport capital projects and manage capital and expense projects from scoping through to execution.\nImprove equipment documentation and spare parts arrangements to support operational and maintenance readiness.\nEnsure engineering solutions comply with applicable engineering standards.\nWhat’s on offer\nAttractive remuneration and variable bonus plan.\nMy Alcoa Benefits program offering travel, lifestyle, health and wellbeing discounts.\nGenerous leave entitlements including a leisure a day off every 4-week period.\nConnect and be part of a community that celebrates diversity through our employee inclusion groups.\nWhat you can bring to the role\nA tertiary Mechanical Engineering qualification (Engineers Australia-recognised)\nExperience in maintenance, reliability, or heavy industry\nStrong problem-solving, initiative, and communication skills\nFamiliarity with risk, quality, and reliability frameworks\nAdditional information\nInterviews may progress prior to the closing date, although all applications will be considered.\nYou will only be contacted if you are shortlisted for an interview, this process can take up to four weeks from the closing date.\nBe part of shaping our organisation and join us in building a legacy of excellence for future generations.\nAbout the Location\nAlcoa's Wagerup Refinery is one of the world's most environmentally and technologically advanced alumina refineries, and produces approximately 2.9 million metric tons of alumina each year.
