The Electrical Maintenance co-op will support the Electrical Maintenance and Reliability Engineering teams in maintaining accurate electrical system documentation, updating electrical drawings, and assisting with preventive maintenance initiatives aligned with NFPA 70B standards. This role provides hands-on exposure to industrial electrical systems, CMMS processes, reliability-centered maintenance practices, and regulatory compliance within a pharmaceutical manufacturing environment
The Alcon team is looking for a talented and motivated co-op to join us onsite for next summer at the Johns Creek, Ga. location.

Key Responsibilities:
NFPA 70B Preventive Maintenance Support
- Support development of PM procedures
- Verify maintenance records and document compliance activities.
- Assist in identifying critical electrical assets and maintenance priorities.
- Support collection of electrical inspection data and findings.
Reliability & Asset Management
- Update equipment records within the CMMS system.
- Assist with equipment hierarchy and asset tagging verification.
- Support critical spare parts identification and inventory reviews.
- Participate in root cause investigations of electrical failures.
Electrical Drawing Management
- Review, update, and maintain electrical one-line diagrams, panel schedules, and equipment drawings.
- Verify field conditions and compare against existing AutoCAD drawings.
- Redline electrical drawings based on maintenance modifications and equipment upgrades.
- Support creation and organization of digital drawing libraries.
Field Support
- Conduct facility walkdowns with maintenance personnel.
- Verify breaker, panel, transformer, and equipment labeling.
- Assist in documenting electrical system modifications.
- Observe contractors and electrical maintenance activities while maintaining safety compliance.
Support projects focused on:
- Electrical system reliability
- Documentation accuracy
- PM optimization
- NFPA 70B compliance improvements
- Asset life-cycle management
We are interested in students from the following majors: Electrical Engineering,
Electrical Engineering Technology, Mechatronics, Industrial Systems Technology, Engineering Technology, or Related Technical Discipline.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Must be enrolled in an accredited university or college for at least one semester prior to the co-op, and at least one additional semester following your co-op
- Academic performance: Minimum cumulative GPA 2.8/4.0
- Demonstrated leadership skills (i.e. extracurricular activities or projects)
- Must be authorized to work in the US on a permanent basis. Students on an F1 visa with CPT work authorization may be accommodated
- Ability to commit to a 10-12 weeks summer co-op, full time (40 hrs./week) project
Preferred Qualifications:
- Basic understanding of industrial electrical systems.
- Experience with AutoCAD or AutoCAD Electrical.
- Familiarity with reading electrical schematics and one-line diagrams.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office.
- Strong organizational and documentation skills.
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
