As an Associate Scientist, Analytical Chemistry at our Durham facility.\nA typical day will include:\nPerform analysis of drug substance and drug product for potential ophthalmic medicines. For example, sample analysis, release, stability, structural analysis and/or IPC analysis of starting materials, intermediates, drug substance, and drug product materials.\n\nAnalyze and evaluate materials and products at all stages of the pharmaceutical product development process.\n\nGenerate analytical data for new and existing methods to trouble-shoot issues.\n\nPerform analytical chemistry in collaboration with others to develop and validate analytical methodology, including stability-indicating HPLC methods, GC methods, Karl Fischer for new drug substances and products.\n\nPerform and verify compendia methods\n\nAssist in the design and execution of clinical phase-appropriate method validation and stability protocols.\n\nExecute stability studies to support the development of new drug substances or drug products.\n\nCompile laboratory data.\n\nAssist laboratory investigations for aberrant and out-of-specification data.\n\nAuthor technical documents such as method development/validation reports, stability reports, and certificates of analysis with assistance.\n\nMaintain laboratory records and provide peer review of laboratory data.\n\nSchedule work activities with supervision and maintain laboratory supplies and equipment.\n\nAuthor and/or review standard operating procedures pertaining to analytical testing and reporting.\n\nExecute investigational studies in collaboration with others to address specific issues.\n\nConduct work in compliance with cGMP, safety, and regulatory requirements.\n\nAssist in authoring Regulatory documents.\n\nMonitor and evaluates completion of tasks and projects.\n\nMay assist in budget preparation for laboratory equipment.\n\nWHAT YOU’LL BRING TO ALCON:\nBachelor’s Degree or Equivalent years of directly related experience (or high school +8 yrs; Assoc.+4 yrs)\n\nThe ability to fluently read, write, understand and communicate in English\n\nPREFERRED EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:\nStrong laboratory skills in analytical testing for small molecules.\n\nExperience with HPLC/UPLC, GC, GC-with headspace, Karl Fischer, FT-IR, and other physical testing including pH, HIAC, viscosity.\n\nThe individual should be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment - able to rapidly flex activities and priorities.\n\nThis individual should be goal-oriented with excellent communication (written and oral) and organizational skills.\n\nThe individual must be able to work effectively in teams.\n\nExperience with Empower software and electronic notebook (ELN) preferred.\n\nExperience with analysis and/or analytical development for sterile solutions is preferred.\n\nBS/BA in Chemistry or related discipline with at least 5-8 years of relevant experience.\n\nHOW YOU CAN THRIVE AT ALCON:\nCollaborate with teammates to share standard processes and findings as work evolves\n\nSee your career like never before with focused growth and development opportunities\n\nJoin Alcon’s mission to provide outstanding, innovative products and solutions to improve sight, improve lives, and grow your career!\n\nAlcon provides robust benefits package including health, life, retirement, flexible time off and much more.\n\nAlcon Careers\nSee your impact at alcon.com/careers\nATTENTION: Current Alcon Employee/Contingent Worker\nIf you are currently an active employee/contingent worker at Alcon, please click the appropriate link below to apply on the Internal Career site.\nFind Jobs for Employees\nFind Jobs for Contingent Worker\nALCON IS AN EQUAL OPPORTUNITY EMPLOYER AND PARTICIPATES IN E-VERIFY\nAlcon takes pride in maintaining an inclusive environment that values different perspectives and our policies are non-discriminatory in recruitment, hiring, training, promotion or other employment practices for reasons of race, color, religion, gender, national origin, age, sexual orientation, marital or veteran status, disability, or any other legally protected status.
