Working directly under the supervision of a licensed Journeyman Electrician, the Apprentice will assist with wiring, conduit bending, equipment mounting, and site preparation. This role emphasizes hands-on training, job site safety, code compliance, and delivering high-quality service to our clients across Alaska.\nPRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES\nChampion Aleut Energy values: Integrity, Teamwork, Quality, Innovation, Compassion, and Sustainability.\nAssist Lead Electricians: Support Journeyman Electricians with the installation, wiring, and integration of residential solar panels, battery systems, transfer switches, and hot tub circuits. \nMaterial Handling & Prep: Assist with measuring, cutting, and bending conduit, as well as pulling wire and assembling components as directed. \nJob Site Organization & Logistics: Load and unload equipment, track inventory on work vehicles, and maintain a clean, safe, and organized job site. \nTool Care & Safety: Properly handle, clean, and store hand tools, power tools, and specialized equipment to ensure safe operations. \nDocumentation Support: Help track materials used, assist with taking photo documentation of job sites, and support routine paperwork completion. \nVehicle Maintenance: Perform daily vehicle inspections (DVIR) and assist in keeping company vehicles clean, stocked, and ready for service. \nCustomer Representation: Interact professionally with homeowners and team members, representing the company with a positive, customer-first attitude. \nProfessional Growth: Attend company-provided training, participate in safety meetings, and actively work toward completing required apprenticeship hours and certifications. \nPerform other supportive duties as assigned. \nKNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES\nKnowledge of NEC codes and local electrical regulations for solar installations.\nExperience reading and interpreting electrical schematics, blueprints, and manufacturer guidelines.\nAbility to install and wire residential solar systems, including inverters, panels, disconnects, and meters.\nProficient in diagnosing and repairing electrical issues in renewable energy systems.\nFamiliar with energy storage systems, net metering, and basic solar sales principles.\nKnowledge of safety best practices when working around water, rooftops, and energized systems.\nAbility to manage installation timelines, site readiness, and compliance documentation.\nStrong communication skills for interacting with homeowners, team members, and sales staff.\nBasic computer literacy, including use of Google Workspace and Microsoft Office tools.\nAble to work independently, maintain clean job sites, and follow safety protocols.\nMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS\nHigh school diploma or GED equivalent. \nValid State of Alaska Electrical Apprentice License (or ability to obtain prior to start date). \nValid Driver’s License with a clean Motor Vehicle Record (MVR). \nAbility to pass a background check and obtain/maintain a DOT Medical Examiner’s Certificate (within 2 weeks of hire). \nAvailability to work 4x10-hour shifts with flexibility during peak seasonal demands or events. \nPREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS\nEnrollment in an accredited Electrical Apprenticeship Program or vocational/trade school coursework in Electrical or Renewable Energy technology. \nPrior hands-on experience in construction, roofing, residential trades, or outdoor labor. \nExperience working with Alaska Native Corporations or in rural/remote Alaska settings. \nPHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS\nAbility to lift, carry, and move equipment and materials weighing up to 75 lbs. unassisted, and push/pull up to 1,200 lbs. with assistance. \nComfort working at heights (roofs, ladders) and in confined spaces such as crawlspaces and attics. \nAbility to stand, bend, kneel, crouch, and work overhead for extended periods during 10-hour shifts. \nAbility to walk and balance on uneven, icy, or slippery terrain. \nVisual acuity and color vision to distinguish color-coded electrical wiring and safety markings. \nTolerance for working outdoors in extreme Alaskan weather conditions, ranging from sub-zero winter temperatures (-45°F) to summer heat (90°F). \nSafe operation of motor vehicles in diverse Alaskan road and weather conditions. \nBENEFITS\n401K - Employer matching up to 4%. \n100% Employer paid Dental/Vision for employees and their qualified dependents. \n100% Paid Employee Life Insurance / Disability. \nAdvance your career with exclusive tuition benefits-Aleut employees and subsidiaries enjoy in-state tuition rates plus a 10% discount on University of Alaska Fairbanks online courses and certifications.\nPREFERENCE STATEMENT\nThe Aleut Corporation (“Aleut”) is committed to providing employment and development opportunities for our shareholders and descendants.
