Visit us at RenewableAlaska.com to learn more!\nJOB SUMMARY: The Solar Installer is responsible for the safe, high-quality installation and repair of solar energy systems for residential, commercial, and industrial customers. This includes photovoltaic (PV) panel systems, wind, battery power management systems, and thermal solar systems for water heating. This position also supports job site preparation, equipment setup, and post-installation cleanup, with growth opportunities in service, sales, and technical roles.\nPRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES\nChampion Aleut Energy values: Integrity, Teamwork, Quality, Innovation, Compassion and Sustainability.\nInstall and repair solar energy systems, including PV and thermal systems used for heating water or air.\nLocate and mark placement of collectors and system components based on blueprints and specifications.\nCut holes in roofing, walls, and ceilings to install equipment and route electrical systems.\nMount supports and brackets to secure solar collectors and related components.\nLay out and connect electrical wiring between controls, and other components using industry-standard practices and wiring diagrams.\nTest system circuits for continuity using meters and diagnostic tools; monitor for proper performance.\nActivate and monitor installed systems to ensure proper operation.\nRepair or replace defective components and systems as needed.\nAssist crew leader with coordination of installation tasks and safety procedures.\nSafely manage and care for tools, materials, and equipment to ensure proper use and prevent loss or damage.\nMaintain a clean, organized job site and company vehicle; load and unload materials, track inventory, and follow all safety protocols to ensure readiness and safety.\nPerform vehicle inspections and routine maintenance (DVIR reports).\nAttend company-provided training and participate in meetings.\nPerform other duties as assigned.\nKNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES\nBasic understanding of electrical systems, with the ability to read wiring diagrams and blueprints.\nSkilled in safe operation of hand and power tools commonly used in construction and solar installation.\nAbility to work on rooftops, in confined spaces, and outdoors in variable weather conditions.\nKnowledge of safety protocols and OSHA guidelines for construction and electrical work.\nStrong attention to detail with a focus on quality craftsmanship.\nEffective communication and ability to follow written and verbal instructions.\nStrong problem-solving skills and mechanical aptitude.\nTeam-oriented with a positive attitude and customer service mindset.\nWillingness to learn new technologies, including battery and wind power systems.\nMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS\nHigh school diploma or equivalent required.\nOne (1) year of experience in construction, roofing, or electrical work.\nValid driver’s license with a clean Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) check.\nAble to pass background check and obtain/maintain a DOT Medical Examiner’s Certificate (within 2 weeks of hire).\nAvailability to work 4x10-hour shifts with flexibility during events, shows, or seasonal peaks.\nPREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS\nExperience with Alaska Native Corporations.\nExperience in solar, renewable energy, or related trades.\nCompletion of relevant technical training or apprenticeship program.\nFamiliarity with residential, commercial, or industrial energy systems.\nPHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS\nAbility to lift, carry, and move equipment and materials weighing up to 75 lbs. unassisted and push/pull up to 1200 lbs. with assistance.\nMust be able to work in confined spaces such as crawlspaces and attics.\nClimb ladders or stairs while assisting with equipment up to 250 lbs., using dollies or lifting devices.\nAbility to stand, bend, kneel, crouch, climb ladders, and work overhead for extended periods.\nStand or walk for up to 10 hours per day on uneven, icy, or slippery surfaces.\nManual dexterity to handle small parts and tools with precision.\nPerform repetitive tasks using hand tools and power equipment.\nVisual acuity and color vision to identify electrical components and safety hazards.\nTolerance for exposure to various weather conditions, noise, dust, and environments that may be hot, cold, or wet ranging from -45°F to 90°F.\nOperate power tools, heavy equipment, and drive service vehicles for extended periods.\nIndependently operate motor vehicles in remote and challenging terrain.\nBENEFITS\n401K - Employer matching up to 4%. \n100% Employer paid Dental/Vision for employees and their qualified dependents. \n100% Paid Employee Life Insurance / Disability. \nAdvance your career with exclusive tuition benefits-Aleut employees and subsidiaries enjoy in-state tuition rates plus a 10% discount on University of Alaska Fairbanks online courses and certifications.\nPREFERENCE STATEMENT\nThe Aleut Corporation (“Aleut”) is committed to providing employment and development opportunities for our shareholders and descendants.
