Together, we’re pioneering the solutions of the future and unlocking the full potential of precious resources. Trusted to act on initiative, we challenge conventional thinking to develop world-leading technologies that inspire progress in vital areas, including energy, food, water, and shipping.

As we push forward, the innovative, open spirit that fuels our 140-year-old start-up culture and rapid growth also drive our personal growth. So, as we shape a more resourceful, less wasteful world, we build our careers too.

About the role

As an R&D Engineer with a primary focus on product design maintenance, you will enter a versatile role where you will have technical ownership of engineering changes that keep our existing product portfolio performing at its best. Working at the heart of our engineering organization in a versatile role, you will drive mechanical and system design changes end-to-end - from initial assessment through implementation and documentation. You thrive working across functions, taking ownership of technical decisions, and are energized by the challenge of improving products and systems in a collaborative environment.

What you do

Primary focus - product maintenance & engineering changes.

  • Changes to structural steel /mechanical design and components (valves, fans, pumps)
  • Assess and own how changes impact surrounding systems, taking responsibility for the change from initiation through to close-out - executing in collaboration with other functions.
  • Drive the technical part of engineering changes related to especially mechanical and system design, maintaining and improving the existing product portfolio to ensure optimal performance and support organizational success
  • Select the right components - including writing specifications and conducting technical evaluation of supplier proposals
  • Assess if and how changes impact risk assessments (HAZOP, FMEA, DFMEA),
  • Create Technical Solution Descriptions (impact analysis) documenting the impact of changes across diagrams, models, and technical documentation
  • Implement changes spanning mechanical design, P&IDs, components and to some extent process changes.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders across the organization, working closely with colleagues to evaluate and implement changes effectively
  • Ensure progress in assigned engineering changes

You will also get the opportunity to

  • Design and develop marine systems and components, including burners, boilers, heat exchangers, and future fuel systems
  • Work in an environment of development and product optimization
  • Develop detailed design documents for both individual parts and complete products, ensuring quality and manufacturability

About you

You're curious, ambitious, and passionate about innovation. You thrive in a collaborative environment and are eager to grow your skills while making a difference.

Must have

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in a similar role involving mechanical steel design (i.e. structures and pressure vessel)
  • Structured and analytic approach
  • Natural ownership and solution orientated mindset - able to take technical decisions independently and see them through
  • Strong collaboration, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • As a minimum; viewer level experience with CAD software such as Inventor or similar (the role is not to create 2D/3D design)
  • Educational background in Mechanical Engineering, Marine Engineering, or a similar technical discipline

Highly valued

  • Experience with burners, boilers, heat exchangers, scrubbers, or similar marine/industrial systems.
  • Familiarity with PLM software - Autodesk Vault and/or Siemens Teamcenter

What’s In It for You
