- Work as part of an Agile development team to deliver features from the product backlog.
- Understand business and technical requirements and translate them into effective test scenarios and test cases.
- Create, maintain, and execute comprehensive test plans, test cases, and supporting QA documentation.
- Protect the quality of new and existing features through manual, automated, and regression testing.
- Contribute to testing at multiple levels, including unit, integration, API, system, end-to-end, and regression testing.
- Estimate testing effort to support sprint planning and product roadmap commitments.
- Ensure traceability between requirements, test cases, and test results.
2. Test Automation & Framework Development
- Identify suitable test cases for automation and develop maintainable automated regression suites.
- Develop and maintain GUI, REST/API, integration, and end-to-end automated tests.
- Use Selenium, TypeScript, Node.js, and Cucumber.js to develop and maintain automated tests.
- Apply Behaviour-Driven Development (BDD) practices using Gherkin.
- Design and maintain reusable automation frameworks using the Page Object Model (POM) and appropriate design patterns.
- Improve test coverage, automation reliability, and engineering efficiency.
3. API, Integration & Distributed Systems Testing
- Perform REST API testing and validate application integrations.
- Test distributed systems and microservice-based applications independently and end-to-end.
- Investigate failures across application components and validate data flows between services.
- Work with relational and non-relational data stores to validate application behaviour and data integrity.
- Support testing activities involving MySQL, relational databases, and Elasticsearch.
4. Quality Engineering & Development Collaboration
- Collaborate with developers to build quality into the software development lifecycle.
- Participate in development activities using Test-Driven Development (TDD) and Behaviour-Driven Development (BDD) practices.
- Contribute to technical discussions and develop an understanding of platform architecture and technical solutions.
- Work with developers and product owners to investigate defects, establish root causes, and validate fixes.
- Apply software engineering principles, including DRY, KISS, and SOLID, to automation development.
- Follow relevant design patterns, including Factory, Builder, Strategy, Decorator, Facade, and Adapter.
5. Defect Management & Reporting
- Track, analyse, and communicate test results, defects, risks, and quality metrics promptly.
- Analyse test failures, identify root causes, and collaborate with developers on corrective actions.
- Document defects with clear reproduction steps, expected results, and actual results.
- Monitor defect resolution and perform regression testing to validate fixes.
- Communicate testing progress, risks, and recommendations to relevant stakeholders.
6. CI/CD & Engineering Tools
- Contribute to CI/CD pipelines, automated quality gates, and continuous improvement of QA practices.
- Work with Jenkins, Git, Gradle, Artifactory, and IntelliJ IDEA as part of testing and development workflows.
- Support automated test execution within continuous integration environments.
- Use JIRA and Confluence for defect tracking, test documentation, and team collaboration.
- Use Kibana and Datadog for application monitoring, troubleshooting, and investigation.
7. Security & Continuous Improvement
- Apply knowledge of the OWASP Top 10 and common web application security considerations during testing.
- Proactively improve test coverage, automation practices, product quality, and engineering efficiency.
- Stay current with modern testing technologies, frameworks, and methodologies.
- Manage competing priorities and deliver testing activities within sprint timelines with minimal supervision.
