Clipchamp\nRole Overview\nWe are looking for a talented and motivated Software Quality Assurance Engineer to join our development team. The successful candidate will work closely with developers, product owners, and engineering stakeholders to deliver high-quality features from the product backlog in an Agile environment.\nThe role combines manual and automated testing, with a strong focus on test automation, continuous quality improvement, and early defect identification. The ideal candidate has a keen eye for detail and a pragmatic, delivery-focused mindset. They take ownership, demonstrate initiative, work independently, and contribute to the wider engineering community by sharing knowledge and staying current with modern testing practices.\nKey Responsibilities\n1. Test Planning & Execution\nWork as part of an Agile development team to deliver features from the product backlog.\nUnderstand business and technical requirements and translate them into effective test scenarios and test cases.\nCreate, maintain, and execute comprehensive test plans, test cases, and supporting QA documentation.\nProtect the quality of new and existing features through manual, automated, and regression testing.\nContribute to testing at multiple levels, including unit, integration, API, system, end-to-end, and regression testing.\nEstimate testing effort to support sprint planning and product roadmap commitments.\nEnsure traceability between requirements, test cases, and test results.\n2. Test Automation & Framework Development\nIdentify suitable test cases for automation and develop maintainable automated regression suites.\nDevelop and maintain GUI, REST/API, integration, and end-to-end automated tests.\nUse Selenium, TypeScript, Node.js, and Cucumber.js to develop and maintain automated tests.\nApply Behaviour-Driven Development (BDD) practices using Gherkin.\nDesign and maintain reusable automation frameworks using the Page Object Model (POM) and appropriate design patterns.\nImprove test coverage, automation reliability, and engineering efficiency.\n3. API, Integration & Distributed Systems Testing\nPerform REST API testing and validate application integrations.\nTest distributed systems and microservice-based applications independently and end-to-end.\nInvestigate failures across application components and validate data flows between services.\nWork with relational and non-relational data stores to validate application behaviour and data integrity.\nSupport testing activities involving MySQL, relational databases, and Elasticsearch.\n4. Quality Engineering & Development Collaboration\nCollaborate with developers to build quality into the software development lifecycle.\nParticipate in development activities using Test-Driven Development (TDD) and Behaviour-Driven Development (BDD) practices.\nContribute to technical discussions and develop an understanding of platform architecture and technical solutions.\nWork with developers and product owners to investigate defects, establish root causes, and validate fixes.\nApply software engineering principles, including DRY, KISS, and SOLID, to automation development.\nFollow relevant design patterns, including Factory, Builder, Strategy, Decorator, Facade, and Adapter.\n5. Defect Management & Reporting\nTrack, analyse, and communicate test results, defects, risks, and quality metrics promptly.\nAnalyse test failures, identify root causes, and collaborate with developers on corrective actions.\nDocument defects with clear reproduction steps, expected results, and actual results.\nMonitor defect resolution and perform regression testing to validate fixes.\nCommunicate testing progress, risks, and recommendations to relevant stakeholders.\n6. CI/CD & Engineering Tools\nContribute to CI/CD pipelines, automated quality gates, and continuous improvement of QA practices.\nWork with Jenkins, Git, Gradle, Artifactory, and IntelliJ IDEA as part of testing and development workflows.\nSupport automated test execution within continuous integration environments.\nUse JIRA and Confluence for defect tracking, test documentation, and team collaboration.\nUse Kibana and Datadog for application monitoring, troubleshooting, and investigation.\n7.
