This role is based at our facility in Huntsville, Alabama. This will be for a day shift 6:30am-3pm with an option to work 4 10-hour shifts will alternating Fridays and Mondays.\nSummary:\nThe Machinist supports plant operations by using CNC and/or manual machining knowledge to modify, repair, and/or maintain various equipment and tooling. Higher level technicians write CNC programming, to include proper methodology, tooling, cutting speeds and feeds, to generate quality parts in accordance with product specifications. Applies niche knowledge in addition to routine work area procedures to complete activities. Resolves task related problems of varying complexity, ranging from straightforward to highly sophisticated, and with considerable latitude and independent judgement. Ability to perform duties safely with limited supervision.\nKey Responsibilities:\nDemonstrates attention to detail, careful work practices, and product knowledge.\n\nPerform preventative maintenance, tooling changes, modification, and repair on machine tooling.\n\nPerform mold assessments and repairs by reviewing last shots, history sheets, and providing production support for molds in use.\n\nInterprets drawings and/ or proven part models to write programs for the CNC machines that include proper methodology, tooling, cutting speeds and feeds in order to generate quality parts in accordance to product specifications, to the extent of individual skill.\n\nStudies and interprets drawings, manuals, specifications, or sample parts to resolve dimensions and tolerances of finished work pieces, sequence of operations, and set-up requirements to improve efficiency.\n\nBuilds set-up sheets based on tooling selection criteria.\n\nMonitors and verifies the accuracy of each job’s initial set-up and outcome.\n\nRevises programs and documents based on engineering changes.\n\nMaintains library of programs in the vault.\n\nResponsible for process improvements and machine time reductions including tool and new product program testing.\n\nConducts general area and workstation housekeeping for maintaining a clean and safe work area, including clean up at work sites.\n\nStores inventory and materials in neat and labeled areas consistent with 5S and safety principles.\n\nSupports and participates in high performing teams.\n\nParticipates in safety activities such as support for Suggestion Boards, Grass Root team projects, 5S projects, department ergonomic improvements.\n\nWorks safely, follows safety rules and regulations, and assists supervisors and managers in maintaining a safe and balanced work environment.\n\nSkills, knowledge & requirements\nHigh school diploma or GED supplemented by validated proven experience programming and operating manual or CNC machines in a mid to heavy manufacturing environment.\n\n2-3 years of experience in the application of precision measuring equipment\n\nAbility to accurately read drawings and specifications with an understanding of geometric tolerances and dimensions.\n\nDetailed knowledge of programming segments and corresponding operations, in accordance with level of position.\n\nSolid understanding of various tool holders, cutting tools, boring bars and inserts used on various machines.\n\nAbility to use various mathematical skills to calculate material fabrication, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, geometry, and algebra.\n\nAbility to set priorities and efficiently advance projects to achieve customer and quality objectives.\n\nProven ability to work independently and follow through with assignments with minimal direction.\n\nValidated skills using software including, but not limited to, Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel, Mastercam, CAD/CAM software, in accordance with the level of position.\n\nAbility to establish and maintain effective and collaborative working relationships.\n\nAbility to learn and adapt to changing technology.\n\nAlignment to safety and quality standards, and dedication to reporting and correcting all issues.\n\nCommunicate efficiently, both verbally and in writing, with all levels in the plant.\n\nDemonstrate dedication to safety, quality, and a positive work environment.\n\nPhysical requirements\nBends, stoops, crouches, reaches, and pulls.\n\nUses fine motor skills to operate tools and machinery, including in tight spaces with low tolerance.\n\nWalks, cleans, and completes paperwork or data entry into computer inventory system.\n\nLifts and moves up to 50 pounds.\n\nHolds, lifts, and manipulates parts of different sizes, shapes, and weights for inspection.\n\nInspects parts and reads blueprints or schematics using near vision, color vision, and peripheral vision.\n\nWork Environment:\n\nExposed to humid conditions, airborne particles and extreme cold or heat.\n\nMoving mechanical parts and loud noise levels.\n\nFrequently exposed to fumes.\n\nWorking Conditions:\nFrequent exposure to humid conditions, and extreme cold or heat\n\nFrequent exposure to airborne particles\n\nRegular exposure to moving mechanical parts and loud noise levels\n\nOccasional exposure to fumes or risk of electrical shock\n\nPay & Benefits:\nStarting hourly rate of $30/hour\n\n401(k)\n\n401(k) matching\n\nDental insurance\n\nEmployee assistance program\n\nFlexible spending account\n\nHealth insurance\n\nHealth savings account\n\nLife insurance\n\nPaid time off\n\nReferral program\n\nTuition reimbursement\n\nVision insurance\n\nIPEX is committed to providing accommodations for people with disabilities throughout the recruitment process and, upon request, will work with qualified job applicants to provide suitable accommodation in a manner that takes into account the applicant’s accessibility needs due to disability.
