This role is ideal for an experienced payroll professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment and enjoys partnering with HR, Finance, IT, and operational leaders to deliver exceptional payroll services across Canada and the United States.\nThis role is hybrid with 3 days/week on-site at the IpexMarkham, ON location.\nThe compensation for this position is between $64,800 and $81,000 annually, based on experience and qualifications. This role is eligible for participation in the annual short-term incentive bonus program, company-matched RRSP, and an extensive health and wellness medical benefits program.\nKey Responsibilities\nManage full-cycle biweekly payroll processing for salaried and hourly employees across multiple legal entities and jurisdictions, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with legislative requirements.\n\nCollect, audit, and validatetime and attendance data from unionized and non-unionized locations, resolving discrepancies prior to payroll processing.\n\nAdminister employee lifecycle transactions including new hires, promotions, transfers, leaves of absence, terminations, and compensation changes.\n\nReview payroll calculations, earnings, deductions, taxes, benefit contributions, and accruals to ensure payroll outputs are accurateand complete.\n\nSupport collective bargaining agreement compliance by applying contractual pay rules, premiums, overtime calculations, and union-specific requirements.\n\nProcess and reconcile garnishments, union dues, RRSP/401(k) contributions, healthand welfare deductions, and other statutory or voluntary deductions.\n\nResearch payroll inquiries and resolve employee, management, and stakeholder concerns with a strong customer-service focus and sense of urgency.\n\nPrepare payroll journal entries, reconciliations, variance analyses, and reports while partnering closely with Finance on month-end and year-end activities.\n\nCoordinate government remittances including tax filings, WSIB/WCB reporting, and other statutory obligations across applicable jurisdictions.\n\nParticipate in payroll system implementations, integrations, upgrades, testing activities, and process improvement initiatives.\n\nAssistwith audits by gathering documentation, validatingrecords, and ensuring payroll controls and compliance standards are maintained.\n\nIdentifyopportunities to streamline processes, improve payroll accuracy, and enhance employee experience through continuous improvement initiatives.\n\nQualifications & Experience\n4+ years of progressive payroll experience supporting complex employee populations and multiple jurisdictions.\n\nPayrollCompliance Practitioner (PCP) designation is considered a strong asset.\n\nStrong understanding of payroll legislation, employment standards, taxation, accounting principles, and payroll best practices.\n\nExperience supporting Canadian payroll with knowledge of U.S. payroll practices and compliance requirements.\n\nHands-on experience with Dayforce, ADP, Workday, or similar HCM/payroll platforms.\n\nAdvanced Microsoft Excel skills with the ability to analyze large volumes of payroll data and identifytrends or discrepancies.\n\nExcellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to explain payroll concepts to employees and leaders.\n\nFrench-Englishbilingualism is an asset but not required.\n\nDemonstrated ability to prioritize competing deadlines, work independently, and maintainexceptional attention to detail.\n\nWhat Success Looks Like\nHigh levelof accuracy and accountability in a deadline-driven environment.\n\nStrong analytical thinking and root-cause problem solving.\n\nCommitment to confidentiality, compliance, and continuous learning.\n\nCollaborative partnership with HR, Finance, IT, and operational teams.\n\nCorporate office environment with extended periods of computer-based work.\n\nFast-paced setting with changing priorities, tight deadlines, and multiple stakeholderdemands.\n\nWhy Join Us?\nThis role offers the opportunity to influence business growth, develop strategic customer partnerships, and contribute directly to market expansion within a respected industry-leading organization.\nIPEX is committed to providing accommodationsfor people with disabilities throughout the recruitment process and, upon request, will work with qualified job applicants to provide suitable accommodation in a manner that takes into accountthe applicant’s accessibility needs due to disability.
