The role also focuses on incident response, stability improvements, and applying intelligent systems to operations.\n\nResponsibilities\nDesign, develop, and maintain high-quality operations tooling and platforms used by SRE and R&D teams (automation, monitoring/alerting, diagnostics, self-healing)\nOwn reliability for a defined set of production services: release management, capacity planning, performance tuning, monitoring, and participation in a 24/7 on-call rotation\nInvestigate and resolve production incidents; perform root cause analysis and drive systemic fixes through code and automation\nIdentify and eliminate toil; measure and improve the engineering efficiency of operations workflows\nExplore and integrate intelligent systems/natural language processing capabilities into operations workflows (AIOps), from alert triage to automated investigation\nCollaborate with R&D teams and colleagues distributed across time zones on designs, releases, and reliability improvements\nPerform daily operations and maintenance of applications, databases, and middleware, as well as troubleshooting and answering customer inquiries as needed\n\nSkills\nA degree in Computer Science or a related field\n3+ years of software development experience in Go, Python, Java, or a comparable language, with a track record of building tools, platforms, or services used by other engineers or running in production\n2+ years of experience operating production services, including participation in on-call rotations, monitoring/alerting, incident response, and release management\nProficiency with Linux environments, cloud infrastructure, and container orchestration (Kubernetes/Docker)\nStrong system diagnostic and problem-solving skills; comfort reading and debugging large distributed codebases and systems\nGood communication skills and demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively across time zones with distributed teams\nHands-on experience applying intelligent systems/ML or natural language processing-based techniques to operations (AIOps): anomaly detection, alert-noise reduction, agentic investigation/triage workflows, or natural language processing observability\nIn-depth understanding of monitoring/observability systems (Prometheus, Grafana, OpenTelemetry, logging/tracing stacks) and experience building on top of them\nExperience with infrastructure-as-code and CI/CD (Terraform, Ansible, ArgoCD, GitHub Actions, or similar)\nExperience in designing and implementing distributed systems, message queues, or data pipelines\nSRE or DevOps experience at a major cloud provider or an internet-scale company\n\nCompany Overview\nAlibaba Cloud develops cloud computing and data management services.
