We offer professionals opportunities to train in the leading technologies, make an impact within the industry and acquire valuable new skills whether on client sites or in one of our regional offices.\nThe Assistant Corporate Controller will play a critical leadership role within the Finance organization, supporting the Corporate Controller in managing the accounting operations, financial reporting, internal controls, and compliance functions of a rapidly growing construction company specializing in hyperscale data center white space fit-out projects. \nThis position will oversee the monthly close process, financial statement preparation, consolidation of project financial results, revenue recognition, audit support, treasury coordination, and corporate accounting functions. The Assistant Corporate Controller will serve as a key business partner to Finance, Operations, Project Management, Procurement, and Executive Leadership to ensure the company's financial reporting is accurate, timely, compliant, and scalable. \nThe ideal candidate brings a combination of strong corporate accounting expertise and some project accounting experience with multi-state project operations. \nThis is a full-time salaried role offering $145,000-$160,000 (commensurate with experience) full benefits, paid travel, and advanced training.\nThis is hybrid role working out of our Woodbridge, NJ office 2 days per week.\nKey Responsibilities\nCorporate Accounting & Financial Reporting\nAssist in leading the weekly reporting, monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes. \nPrepare and review consolidated financial statements in accordance with U.S. GAAP. \nEnsure the accuracy and completeness of balance sheet reconciliations and general ledger activity. \nManage revenue recognition and construction contract accounting. \nOversee month-end accruals, allocations, and journal entries. \nSupport board reporting, lender reporting, and executive financial packages. \nMaintain accounting policies, procedures, and documentation. \nConstruction Accounting Oversight\nReview project accounting activities including: Job costing \nWIP schedules \nCost-to-complete estimates \nPercentage-of-completion calculations \nChange order accounting \nRetainage tracking \n\nPartner with Operations and Project Management to validate project financial performance. \nAnalyze project profitability, margin trends, and cost variances. \nEnsure consistency of project accounting practices across the organization. \nMonitor project revenue recognition and billing compliance. \nInternal Controls & Compliance\nAssist in designing and maintaining internal control frameworks. \nDevelop financial and operational process improvements. \nEnsure compliance with accounting standards, tax regulations, and company policies. \nCoordinate annual financial audits and tax engagements. \nSupport insurance audits, labor audits, and bonding requirements. \nMaintain documentation supporting lender, banking, and compliance requests. \nCash Management & Treasury Support\nAssist with cash forecasting and liquidity management. \nMonitor working capital and project cash flow trends. \nSupport banking relationships and treasury functions. \nCoordinate construction draw schedules and lender reporting requirements. \nOversee payment approvals and cash disbursement controls. \nTeam Leadership\nAssist in managing and mentoring accounting staff. \nSupport professional development and succession planning within the Finance team. \nEstablish department performance standards and best practices. \nFoster a culture of accountability, accuracy, and continuous improvement. \nSystems & Process Improvement\nDrive automation and efficiency initiatives within accounting and finance processes. \nOptimize utilization of ERP and project management platforms. \nParticipate in system implementations, upgrades, and integrations. \nImprove workflows between accounting, procurement, payroll, and project operations. \nQualifications \nRequired \nBachelor's degree in Accounting. \n7+ years of progressive accounting and finance experience. \nStrong knowledge of: U.S. GAAP \nGeneral Ledger \nMonth/Quarter/Year end close \nPercentage-of-completion accounting \nAccruals \nRevenue recognition \nJob costing \nFinancial statement preparation \nBudgeting and Forecasting \n\nAdvanced Microsoft Excel skills. \nExperience with ERP systems such as Sage Intacct, Sage Construction, Vista, or similar. \nPreferred \nCPA designation. \nPublic accounting experience. \nProject Accounting experience. \nExperience supporting multi-state construction operations. \nWorking knowledge of multi-state sales and use tax requirements. \nExperience with Procore or comparable construction management software. \nFamiliarity with project controls, construction lending, and bonding requirements. \nExperience working in rapidly growing organizations. \nTo support a fair, consistent, and high-quality hiring experience, some interviews may be recorded.
